Harvard women's basketball is currently worlds apart from its men's counterpart, whose top two returners were forced to withdraw for the year after the cheating scandal that rocked the university last month.

We:
-have two former ESPN top 100 ranked recruits (Fagbenle and Tummala) who will both have their first playing season this year (Fagbenle sat out last season due to residency issues)
-will start the season in North Dakota, playing both NDSU and North Dakota (hmm, why shouldn't we do this in football too? )
-Oklahoma State, the current WNIT champion, is on our schedule (December 28 in San Diego as part of a tournament)

Both Harvard men and women basketball teams have UMass, Holy Cross and BU on the OOC schedule, albeit on different dates and sites. Both teams start November 9, the men at Lavietes and the women in North Dakota.

In a Government subject's take-home exam, some students did not follow instructions. But among those enrolled and were implicated were our two returning star players. Both withdrew for this season.

StonyBrooks ladies open the 2012-2013 season with back to back home games.

We have 7 new faces 6 are frosh and 1 JUCO transfer so they are young but supposedly talented.

The instructions called for not allowing interaction between students... they did not transfer, only withdrew for this season to preserve their last year of eligibility.

ON Topic: Harvard is the #2 favorite to win the Ivy this year, garnering four first-place votes behind Princeton's 13. Harvard will start the season in North Dakota on Friday (@NDSU), while Princeton won't start until Sunday (@St Joe's).

Charleston Southern Women's Basketball Season Preview

"I have been really pleased with the team’s progress during preseason. They have been going very hard in practice and preparing for the upcoming basketball season," commented (Head Coach, Fred) Applin on the upcoming season. "The expectations for the season is to compete for 40 minutes each game. We have to do the little things that could help us win game, like rebounding and getting the 50/50 balls."

Harvard succumbed into a late surge by NDSU and lost their opener 81-72.

StonyBrook lost to Rider tonight 62-50 in their season opener. The Stony Brook ladies are home on Sunday against Navy.

The Nothings couldn't withstand us... Harvard got their first win on the road against North Dakota 65-52 and return to Cambridge with a 1-1 record. Next up is BYU for the home opener, but the game won't be until Friday. Ironically, both the Crimson men's and women's basketball teams are at home on Friday; both use Lavietes for our home games and the men start only 30 minutes after we end.

Stony Brook topped Navy tonight 44-40 and improve to 1-1 on the new season. Next up is a road trip to play Morgan St. Tuesday night.

Harvard used a strong second half to beat BYU 71-65. We will be in Michigan for the Thanksgiving weekend, with two games against the Wolverines and Eastern Michigan, respectively.

StonyBrook lost in OT this afternoon at Morgan St. Final score Morgan St 66 SBU 63. The Lady Seawolves go on the road next Saturday at NJIT.

Harvard just lost to Michigan 72-61. Next up: Eastern Michigan tomorrow.

Harvard held on to win against Eastern Michigan 67-63. We return home to Cambridge to face UNH on Wednesday.

The women's basketball team at Hampton is 4-3 their first entry into the NCAA tournament was against SEC power Kentucky and they gave the Wildcats all they could handle.They had a seed of#13 the highest since '93 when Grambling got a #12 seed.This yr they defeated the Lady Tigers of LSU!!!Recently they lost to Florida Gulf Coast 72-64!!!

StonyBrook topped NJIT today 59-34 and improved to 2-2. The Lady Seawolves are on the road Wednesday at Robert Morris.

Harvard has had been all over the awards list in each of the three weeks with awards thus far. Christine Clark has been named Ivy League Player of the Week for her performances in the three games last week (21.3 PPG in 3 games with a 2-1 record, all on the road). She joins Fagbenle (rookie week 1) and Lippert (player week 2) as the Harvard players named to the awards list this year.

I wonder when would our coach give Tummala more minutes in order to live up to her high school All-American status. She has played somewhat little so far this year.

StonyBrook topped Robert Morris tonight 56-48. The lady Seawolves are 3-2 on the year and travel to Youngstown St. Friday evening.

UOP is 6-0 for the first time ever after a 66-56 win over Fresno State. (Take THAT, FSA!) The Tigers SHOULD make it to 7-0 as their next game is at San Jose State. Then comes the murderers' row part of the schedule (@ FL, @ Stanford, @ St. Mary's). UOP is up to #7 in the last RPI, and SOS at #31. That RPI is ahead of #1 Stanford and #11 Gonzaga. Just so you know, that 6-0 record includes a home win over Nevada and a road win over Eastern Washington. Hee hee, Eags!

Sac State is on a three game winning streak following an initial two-game slide. The latest was a 68-60 win over San Fran, in which the Lady Hornets forced a whopping 34 turnovers. Coming up is a five-game road trip at Oregon State, at SIU-Edwardsville (rematch from a home game last year), at EIU, and at both Montanas.

Liberty stands at 3-3 following a 20-point win over UNC-Greensboro. The Flames were coming off some pretty bad losses to ranked teams: #24 TX A&M (70-55) and #3 Baylor (92-60). Liberty did win two games in the consolation round of the WNIT (Grambling and Sacred Heart). The Grambling win was by 29. Next up are road games at Radford and JMU before the last home stand of the calendar year (UNC-Wilmington, Bluefield State, NC A&T, and Virginia Union).

Harvard continues their winning ways by routing UNH 63-44. Our 5-2 record to start the season is the first for us since 2004-05. Next game is on Saturday against Hofstra in a repeat of last year's WNIT matchup.

StonyBrook was blownout tonight by Youngstown St. Final YSU 76 SBU 43. Next is against Sacred Heart on 12/4.

Harvard beat Hofstra 70-67 in OT to improve to 6-2. Next game is against Providence on Tuesday.

New RPI is out. UOP (6-0) is up to #5 despite an idle week, jumping Ohio State (4-2). UCLA (3-1) jumped Notre Dame (5-0) into #1.

Teams of note to us are TN-Chattanooga (5-1), moving up 36 to #7. Lamar held steady at #10. Dayton (7-0) is up 34 to #13. Princeton (4-2) moved up 27 to #14. Cal Poly (4-3) dropped 15 to #24 (#7 SOS). South Carolina State (2-1) dropped 5 to #26. That's the Top 30 for FCS fans.
