Surprised that the WAC would be interested.

SD reported on SacBuzz this morning that UTPA has accepted a WAC bid. They are to be full members. IF, that is, the UT Board of Regents signs off on it.
For Houston Baptist to make that move, they would have to renege on an agreement to join the SLC next year. I wonder what the SLC would do about that....

I think that fully finishes off the Great West, at least for major sports.

What about NJIT?

OMG! NJIT is actually in first place in the Great West with a 4-2 record. And whoodathunk that one of their wins would be UNH?
Of course, their most reacent win is an unknown D-II, and another isn't even named by Yahoo!. (NJIT's site shows that the unnamed school is Eastern Nazarene, a D-III school in Quincy, MA. How did they have two games scheduled against SC St in one week? They split those....
This kind of scheduling just might push D-I conferences to reject the Highlanders....

My mistake, I was thinking NJIT had been invited to the NEC or MAAC. I guess not.
Obviously the league can't continue with 1 team, though, & I'm guessing one of those smaller NE conferences will grab NJIT eventually.

I don't believe UNH has ever been a good basketball team, so that isn't surprising.

I get all my realignment info from the scout WAC board. I think Chicago State and NJIT are the only homeless D1 hoops programs now. WAC will have to backfill with D2 moveups and hope they get a NCAA waiver to keep their autobids until the D2 schools complete their transition.
