How would you rate SOS...

...for a "D-I" schedule that included The Masters College and San Diego Christian?

I did a preview of this school for their game tomorrow against UOP, and one of their fans came on and blasted me, saying that somehow their schedule is somehow "the toughest in the country," even ahead of Duke. They even played Wyoming twice. That's hardly a stellar schedule to me.

EDIT: Oh, and they somehow gave up 100 and lost by 28 to IL State!

UC Santa Barbara.

Now their fan is claiming that his case is supported by RPI. I have a hard time believing that when they schedule two NAIAs. But RPI is notoriously unreliable during preseason anyway.

The season is half over....RPI is to the point where it's fairly solid.

Then again, we are talking about two teams with a a combined record of 8 games under .500 in one of the worst conferences in America

RPI ignores non DI games. As Far as RPI is concerned, the games never happened. No credit or debit for it.

It does for fotoball. That they'd make an exception for hoops is just plain stupid. Theoretically, you could play all NAIA games except for one game against the #1 D-I team in the country, and you get credit for the "hardest schedule in the country?!?"

I don't THINK so!
Spoiler: show
That's not intended for YOU, Jon. You'r ejust reporting what you know to be fact. I'm just questioning the legitimacy of the system that MAKEs it a fact....

The non-D1 games also don't count towards for the NCAA selection committee....you'd have zero wins.

OK. That makes sense, clenz.

The Big West is actually 17th. in the RPI, far from one of the worst.

I don't care at all about the rest of this debate, just thought I'd point that one thing out.

Anything after 11 or 12 doesn't really matter...

It's also a true sign of the conference when the the average RPI is under .505. That's a bad thing for the strength of the conference.

Yet the winner is projected to be in the 16 seed play in game.

Big West has a bunch of mediocre teams. None that stand out like Weber or Montana, none that suck as bad as ISU.

I think I'd disagree with that last statement, Jon.

Currently and historically, speaking only of GUYS' hoops, UC Riverside is one of the worst D-I teams I've ever seen, both in terms of on-court performance and CROWD performance. You know a place sucks when ONE road fan can show up and take over the entire place. I should know. I've done it. Of course, their gym is so sub par, it makes Sac's look like an NBA arena, and that takes some doing given that Sac's is JHS-caliber.

Fan support and gym quality don't factor into RPI.

I know that, Jon. But one typically follows the other....
