Aren't they D-II?

They are a pretty big school so they probably have potential, but not exactly a quality addition to the conference.

Today marks another historic milestone for the University of Massachusetts Lowell. I am pleased to announce that America East has invited our university to join its Division I athletic conference and – after receiving the unanimous endorsement of the Student Government Association and the Faculty Senate Executive Committee and the support of President Robert Caret and the Board of Trustees – we have accepted.

Is NJIT still in the Great West?

Man, what kind of a joke is THAT?

Ofiicially announced this morning. They are a D2 upgrade so it will take a few years for them to become competitive in any sport. StonyBrook and Albany were confernce mates of the River Hawks back in our days in D3 but that was eons ago. Know nothing much about them now . Time will tell.
