#16 Southern vs. #1 Gonzaga

Post by ∞∞∞ »

Where's Tampajag?! The Davidson vs. Marquette game was great, but this one's even better!

59-56 GU with 3 minutes left as I type this.

edit: It's on TBS.

Gonzaga hangs on 64-58 final.

Disappointing finish, the Jags had their opportunities, but mental errors down the stretch cost them.
MEAC, last one out turn off the lights.

Heck of game, Jags went toe to toe with em. Would have liked to get that W, 20 years ago we got our first NCAA win. This one would have been bigger.

In the form of bad shot selection, the only thing that kept them afloat was their athleticism ,on defense at one time I saw that they had seven blocks as a team maybe even more.Brandon Moore led the way,Malcolm Miller a 6-6 200 G/F made timely contributions on defense as well with a few blocks. If Moore was 7ft instead of 6-10 SU might have made history.Gonzaga head coach Mark Few said after the game that no team in the WCC can match the aforementioned athleticism of the Jaguars.

Beltran showed up big time 21 pts mad timely 3s that kept SU within striking distance.David Stockton of Gonzaga caused havoc playing the role of a one man zone double teaming Javan Mitchell down in the low post or keeping Grace under control at the top of the key.The '93 win over Ga.Tech was classic Jobe in the second half the Jags came out smoking as a team hitting 15 (3) he doesn't play slow down ball.

I grew up watching Jobe teams, spent many a summer at his basketball camp. Banks is laying a good foundation. I do know that we're in good hands at the point with Hyder.

Do you think Jobe would have gone against his natural tendency to speed the game up vs Gonzaga!!! So Hyder is a future star?? As stated before if Moore was a legit 7ft er they would have made history yesterday.Too bad Justin Banks from Alabama A&M wasn't playing for SU he had the mobility to stick with the guy from Gonzaga Kelly Olzyck.

Jobe would never change the way he played, he would have forced the tempo as much as he could. He would lose by 20 or win by 20, nothing changes. Our problem wasn't so much that we couldn't play KO, it was that our guards had brain freezes against the pick and roll.

Yeah blame Miller for that he was looking at Hart then Olcyk blew right by him on those pick and rolls.Your right about Jobe he is a disciple of McLendon. That point guard you guys have your eyes on is he still Vandy bound!!
