Top two wishes of Ivy football fans everywhere: Playoff participation by the Ivy champion and the diversification of opponents in scheduling games.

The coach should be fired, the AD should be looking for another job, and Murdoch's behavior should not be rewarded either.

Apparently, Murdoch had tapes for two season's of practices...yet didn't turn them in until after his contract was not renewed. What a wimp.

Fully standing up for the kids only AFTER he wasn't given a renewal. :ohno: :tothehand:

Slow news week as the sports media was all over this thing. At the end of the day its only RU hoops which has hasn't meant a thing since what 1976? The coach was fired but the AD won't be as he was the one responsible for their entry into the B1G.

Rutgers Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach Jimmy "Baby Rice" Martelli Resigns

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – Rutgers assistant men’s basketball coach Jimmy Martelli has resigned, Rutgers University confirmed on Wednesday.

The resignation comes on the heels of ex-head coach Mike Rice being fired after a video showing the basketball coach verbally and physically abusing his players caused a public outcry.

Rutgers is firing their AD today. Unnecessary step IMO. Look I get what Rice did was wrong, I'm certainly not condoning it, and am not arguing over his being fired. The videotape broke during a media lull & it became a firestorm.

Let's look at the bigger picture here, the AD did act back in December & tried to rehab the guy so it's wrong to say nothing was done. This AD, Pernetti, also orchestrated the move that is setting up Rutgers athletics for the next few decades by spearheading their bid to the B1G. That's giving the school at least by today's numbers, more than $20M in incremental revenue every year. But forget all that, he didn't fire a basketball coach in December when given the chance when nobody in the media said boo to an invisible program.

I disagree with today's decision.

Its ALL unnecessary.

A few of Rices former players are supporting him. Finally a couple MEN enter this bullshit witch hunt.

I hope Rice sues because of the sexual discrimination Rutgers and the media has ladled on him....its sickening behavior

Pernetti wrote maybe the single best resignation letter I've ever seen. If you read between the lines it basically says: This was my alma mater & my dream job. I wanted to fire the bastard back in December but the lawyers & HR people wouldn't let me. I got your ass in the Big Ten, go F yourselves. I'm out.

I hope he gets another AD job.

Pernetti is a good man who deserved better. He took a pay cut from CBS to go to Rutgers. I suspect he winds up in a sports media position. Good luck to him.
