Ads in newspapers, and now billboards on local roads are displaying the displeasure Wake fans have with the current coaching arrangement. WXII 12 news in Winston-Salem recently detailed both sides of the situation. Brian Stratton, the Wake Forest fan/North Carolina State alumnus who was a primary guy rallying to pay the $4,500 for the billboard to go up, explained how it got to this point.

"I think there are a lot of very, very disappointed alumni who, after last year, have just basically said, 'I'm out, and I'm not going to donate anymore,'" Stratton said. "Will they come back? I don't know."

Wake Forest finished 13-18 last year, going 6-12 in the ACC (third from last). Bzdelik has support, though, and it comes in the form of the program's most successful coach, Dave Odom, who was with the school from 1989-2001. Odom spoke to WXII 12 about the saga of stress and anger that has permeated the program for the past two seasons.

Wake inexplicably fired Dino Gaudio, who over three years got them two tourney appearances and had a 61-31 record. He was replaced by Jeff Bzdelick who has taken the Deacs to a stellar (cellar) 33-59 over three seasons.

It's pretty sad. Granted he has some shitty facilities to work with, but a 5 year clip? Ouch. No excuse for not at least getting a BSC Tourney bid last season. The problem I have with Katz is his players have made the same mistakes throughout his tenure, and the team never seems prepared for certain clutch situations. Very frustrating...on the other had he is in .500 neighborhood with the worst D1 facilities in the nation but I feel that he has taken this program as far as he can. Apparently our AD Wanless is content with the plateau this program has been at for the past couple seasons.

On a side note the on-campus events center rumors are starting to swirl again so maybe (hopefully) Wanless did this so he can focus on finally getting the damn thing built.
