I hope Gonzaga has dealt with the lack of athleticism among its guards that was exposed by Southern University last season.Who has Pacific signed to its hoops program??? Don't forget Butler Inspite of losing coach Stevens.

UOP is expecting good things from newly promoted HC Ron Verlin, who kept the staff together, pretty much hiring only to replace himself as an assistant. The UOP board admin has been keeping track of recruiting. The Tigers have two '14 verbal commits and several others offered and rumored to be in the mix. The admin's also noted who the team has lost. Here it is.

This first year will likely look similar to last year under longtime head man Bob Thomason. Thomason often varied the offense based on available personnel, but preferred something of a halfcourt game, though the team has pretty much relied on the trey for decades. Look for that to continue for the short term, though Verlin will likely put his own stamp on the team fairly soon.

Hope to see them in the tournament.
