Got two tix to the Wake/Duke game for Sunday

My wife's cousin is a GA with the football team at Duke and he was able to get me and my boy a couple tickets. My son is 5 years old, and a huge Duke fan, much to the dismay of my wife (WFU 99). I can blame this on bench, my Dad, and his before mentioned cousin. Actually, I'm kind of pumped. I have always wanted to go to Duke for a BBall game. I guarantee the place will be rockin'.

This should be a good game. IMO, WFU is the best team in the ACC. They are young, which has led to some stupid losses in the ACC, but they have beaten the teams in front of them in the standings, UNC and CU, and have impressive victories against Duke and FSU.. I took my wife down to Wake last weekend for the FSU game, and I was impressed. If Dino can keep his guys in Winston-Salem, they will be a terror the next 2-3 years. If they can get out of the ACC and into the Big Dance without too many more losses and a good ACC tourney, I look for them to make some noise come March.

As you can see, the boy was pumped! It was worth the drive all night and being tired the next day. He really enjoyed himself.

Everyone should try at least once in their lives to catch a game at Cameron. I doubt there is a tougher place to play in all of sports. I was impressed.

On to the game. Wake played like a young team in the first half. Wake didn't defend Duke's outside game well, and didn't get any scoring support from Al-Farooq or LD. Henderson was too much for LD to handle on O, as he ended up with 36, I think. Duke's D let Teague to do his thing (he had 28), but kept the other scorers in check. Ish also had a decent night. Lead was 22 at one time, which Wake cut to 2, but the Devils ended up winning by 10, 101-91.

Good game, and a good time!

We did Jon.

I don't think I have ever been to any kind of athletic contest that was as electric. I can't imagine what a Duke/UNC game would be like. The noise and crowd support was unreal. When Coach K took off his coat and slung it on the bench, slaped the floor and raised his arms and pumped his fists, that place came unglued. I'm not a huge Duke fan, but chill bumps ran up my arms, and the hair stood up on the back of my neck. Hell, I get the same feelings just sitting here typing and thinking about it. It was an awesome experience.

You can thank bench, my Father, and lil' man's cousin. I've tried, and it makes my wife sick to her stomach due to the whole Wake thing.

Could be worse. At least he's not a Tar Hole fan...

I think they have support groups for these kind of things. Usually it is good to have family support in matters like this, but since there will be plenty of family in the group it should be fine.

Hey Appa, to give you an idea how bad it is, Duke and MD were playing last night. The 1st half ended about 10 and I had already let him stay up WAAAYYY past his bedtime, against his Mother's wishes. When I turned off the tube and sent him to bed he cried and begged me to let him watch the rest. "But Daddy, I have to watch the rest. How will I know if Duke wins."

He's already acting like an ACC basketball fan.

I don't like Dooky, but I'm glad to see another generation of ACC hoops fanatics growing up. I really didn't like the major expansion a few years ago, trying to make the conference football-centric.

Agree...one of the worst decisions ever (not financially however)....miss playing everyone twice per year....and let's be honest, the Big East made out like bandits....crappy traditional ACC football ended up corrupting the VaTech & Miami teams....yet, who could have predicted the Rutgers, UConn, Louisville & South Florida improvements....Swofford's a dik.....
