The American One webcast is in hi-def and terrific.

Perhaps the previous quality kept the gym hidden.

Coming from Eastern, I'm certainly not one for stadium/arena smack, but holy hell, what in the hell is that gym? Does it seat 1,000?

I've watched plenty of games on-line there before but never knew it was that tiny...

And just when I was singing the praises of the webcast, they are now shutting the audio off unless there's a score or foul.

Seriously, what the fuck? You can hear them turn off the audio after each score, play, or foul.

We never claimed to have a palatial arena. We know it's a dump; calling it a JHS gym would be a compliment. Hornet fans have wanted to upgrade for YEARS, but we keep getting the old bait-and-switch from the administration....

Oh...fun

Oh. Sorry.

That was our VB team, which outdraws most cbb programs.

Here is a basketball game

If I had to chose between a women's vb game or watching corn grow, I'd opt for the vb game as well. :coffee:

Meh...corn insults. Original.

UNI finishes in the top 5-8 every year in volleyball attendance. Usually between 3,500-4,500 per game.

As of now UNI's volleyball team has/does/would outdraw 10 of draw Big Sky MBB teams and is within extreme proximity to being a head of all 12.

Maybe not hosting the conference tournament (if eligible) may get the ball rolling. Missing out on all that $$$?

With all the payout I don't think much money is made on the BSCT. Regardless they will find a place in Sac to play this game. Whether it be an empty warehouse or barn somewhere in the area, they will find a place. If push comes to shove I've heard about 5k seats could be put in the Well and it can be played on campus.

http://thewell.csus.edu/

Regardless there are tons of games left. Anything can happen and there is no guarantee we will win the regular season crown. I hope we do for a multitude of reasons, one of which is to see the BSC brass go ape shit over the BSCT being hosted in some cut rate facility.

Tournament might be moved to a more permanent location. There are more geographically central locations but as the article mentions, Spokane is a bus trip for 5 teams and could host both. Plus it's hosted NCAA tournament games.

Then there is always talk about the Big Sky joining other western conferences and having their tournament in Vegas. :thumb:

No, there isn't. There're already about 50 bazillion conferences playing their tournaments there, so there's no room left.

Moving to a neutral site is all about the teams that never win the conference complaining about having to pay to go. In a mid-major league, the regular-season champ should get the advantage of hosting. Plus, all the neutral sites currently in the running suck.

The thing I hate the most about this idea is that every team gets in the BSCT. Why even have a regular season at that point. Keep it the way it is, or move it to a neutral location with cool stuff to do on the side (Vegas and I guess Reno would kinda work).

That said I’ll never go to a tournament location on 1 weeks’ notice. I need more than a week to talk the wifey into making a trip to buttfucknowhere to see bottom tier D1 hoops. I could possibly sell a neutral location that has something else going on in town. And yeah…Billings doesn’t count.

Oh and Kalm, Spokane makes too much logistical sense so that means it will definitely not be considered.

What sucks about them? Compared to what?

I've heard that Reno is in the mix. What exactly sucks about Reno, Venus?

It's places like Reno, Billings, Ogden, Spokane…

Not exactly destination cities (or second-tier destination city in the case of Reno), especially in the winter months. How would it look for this conference if all these other western conferences (including the WAC—who's worse than the Big Sky—and the Big West—who is generally about the same) are playing in ritzy Vegas while the Big Sky is playing in Reno?

To me, the way the BSC is currently doing things is more or less the best way to do it for a one-bid league (I don't like the new 8-team format with no byes, but that's it). The champ gets a big advantage, but enough teams make the tourney that the last few weeks of the season still matter for most every team. I know the last-second costs aren't ideal for many schools, but that isn't enough reason to change the thing into a poorly contructed crapshoot in a less-than-enticing (or perhaps unfair) location.

Um...Reno is the home of the National Pole Vault Summit every January. That event attracts thousands of vaulters at every level of development from grade school to world record holders. Yes, Renaud Lavillenie, who took Sergei Bubka's 20+ year-old world record last year IN Bubka's home town WITH BUBKA IN ATTENDANCE, has been at the Summit at least the last two years running. Former world record holder Stacy Dragila (the first US and Olympic champ on the women's side) is a fixture there with the team she coaches.

Don't tell me that with an event like that on an annual basis, Reno is a "second-tier" attraction town, Venus.
