We used to have Herb Magee as the keynote speaker at all of our basketball end-of-season banquets since he was local. Great guy, great basketball mind. Good for him getting to where he's gotten to.

The list is about to expand rather quickly in the next couple of years or so. Jim Boeheim at Syracuse (963 wins), Vivian Stringer at Rutgers (952 wins), Sylvia Hatchell at North Carolina (954 wins), Tara Vanderveer at Stanford (941 wins), Andy Landers at Georgia (940 wins), Barbara Stevens at Bentley (926 wins), Geno Auriemma at UCONN (902 wins), and Jody Conradt at Texas (900 wins) are nearing that prestigious plateau.

Statham - I've never heard of him. Is he in the NAIA level as a women's or a men's coach? I posted some articles about Miles a few years ago.

Magee is very well respected throughout basketball as one the preeminent shooting coaches. His Textile (name of Phila U. back then) teams were really good in the seventies capable of giving D-1 teams headaches.

Statham coached NAIA men's until just recently when the school moved to D2.

Eh, I still separate men's and women's basketball. Unless a coach did both sports, they are entirely different sports and should be separate. I never see people try to compare softball coaching records with baseball coaching records despite the similarity. Never understood why it happens in basketball so much.

Thank goodness that a real man, coaching real basketball, is going to be on top of that list soon.
