5 FCS teams - and all of them "smaller schools" I hope the tourney does well.

Hmmm

Statement from VMI Athletic Director Donny White on VMI Basketball postseason play:

"As most of our fans know by now, VMI will not participate in any of the postseason college basketball tournaments that include teams that didn’t qualify for the NCAA tournament. These tournaments include the National Invitational Tournament (NIT), College Basketball Invitational (CBI), and the newly formed Collegeinsider.com Tournament.

Postseason tournaments are certainly a desirable and worthy goal for any Division I basketball program and we carefully weighed all the options taking into consideration our cadet-athletes well being. It was determined after consultation with our players and coaches that it was in our best interest to make a strong push for the NIT, but not to actively pursue the other two tournaments because of the time demands placed on our players. Any participation in postseason play would have been road contests for spring break and financial reasons. We had players on our team, including three seniors working to graduate this spring, that had expressed concern that an already long season would be extended and more class time missed should we advance into the CBI or Collegeinsider.com tourney. It is for that reason that we decided to limit our post-season focus on trying to obtain a bid to the NIT, which unfortunately did not materialize.

that kind of sucks for the players and the fans. I am sure they would like to play a few more games before they end up in the world of serving their country.

No kidding.

I would think that Montana could have done a better guarantee...

UOP knocked off Idaho 69-59 to get to the semis.

Depending on the other results, I've envisioned from the beginning a UOP-Liberty final. We'll see if that pans out.

No, I haven't been to either game. Fundage whomps right now.

Just looked at the UOP website again. UOP goes to Bradley for the semis.

I'm so mad. UOP lost at Bradley 59-49. What happened to our offense? Ugh! Now NEITHER of my final picks are going to be there.

Rumor was that had we beaten Bradley, we were going to host the final, too.

Didn't Bradley win the first year of the CBI or do really well? They are sweeping up on these smaller tourneys.

ODU won a nonNCAA national championship ! That brings them to 11 titles.
