I will be interested to see who we go after, I'd like to see us go after Matt Doherty
Can't say I'm shocked he won't be back as HC, but I am surprised he resigned (though I have my doubts it was on his own accord). I've had the pleasure of meeting Houston a few times. He's a great guy, really down to earth, cared for ASU, and would always stop and talk to you. I hope he has something else lined up and finds success elsewhere.BOONE, N.C. — Houston Fancher resigned as men’s basketball head coach at Appalachian State University on Monday evening, effective immediately.
In nine seasons at the helm of the program, Fancher posted a 137-136 overall record, which included three Southern Conference North Division championships (2002-03, 2006-07 and 2007-08). In 2006-07, he led Appalachian to a school-record 25 wins, the San Juan Shootout championship and a berth in the National Invitation Tournament. He was named the SoCon Coach of the Year in 2002-03 after winning the first of his three North Division titles.
