Western Conference RPI Ranks (according to RealTimeRPI)

Post by Mvemjsunpx »

Not every league is done with non-conference play, but here's where things stand now.

Men

6. Pac-12 (.5535)
9. Mountain West (.5164)
12. Summit (.4984)
13. West Coast (.4951)
15. WAC (.4884)
16. Big West (.4859)
18. Big Sky (.4811)

So… the Big Sky is way up this year, but is the worst western conference (the BSC was 28th. last season, but ranked just above the BWC). I guess the west is just way better than the east/south this year. :?

Women

3. Pac-12 (.5834)
13. West Coast (.4902)
15. Summit (.4834)
19. Mountain West (.4729)
20. Big Sky (.4720)
23. Big West (.4633)
30. WAC (.4254)

Here, the Big Sky is about the same as last year but is not the worst western conference.

If these numbers hold, it will be the first time since '09-10 that the Big Sky men have ranked higher than the Big Sky women.

Hornets with a huge upset in the Nest against PSU, 80-75. Strings (POTW lock) put up 34 points on 16/18 from the floor. Hell of a way to start BSC play.

Hornets played like PSU during the non-conference, and the Viks played like some of the bigger opponents we've faced so far. Viks jumped out to a big lead, and stopped executing. Hornets did an excellent job of dictating tempo and slowed us down. Viks have to play the way they have in the non-conference season, otherwise it will all be for naught.

A thing of beauty (I guess) for a basketball enthusiast to watch the Hornets recover from a big deficit and get the win, especially against an up-tempo club. But, I'll admit as a fan of the losing team, it does hurt. Hornets did it to us again, just like last year.

Throw out the records, it is a rivalry game. :thumb:

I don't think PSU would have messed up like that had their coach been Sherri Murrell....

It was a brilliant game plan from Katz. That PSU press is scary, we got away with a lot of bad passes late in the game to escape the trap. I was surprised PSU didn't pound it inside more with that big ogre in the 2nd half.

If you watched them against Gonzaga you'd of thought they might be BSC front runner.

Bengals beat Weber on the road and are 6-1 their last 7, though against weak teams except Weber. A win like that can turn a season around.

BSC was smart signing on with Pluto.

Hornets implode at the end of both halves and lose a game they should have won on the road at Idaho 69-68. :ohno:

You can do all the fancy passes and awesome dribbling, but if you can't shoot, you won't win too many games.

Viks allow a 16-0 run in the second half to go with 7-30 shooting in the second half (and 2-19 from the three point line for the game) and lose at EWU, 81-74. Viks' great non-conference showing against some of the top tier teams in the country means diddly-poo when we can't win a single conference game.

Bringing back painful memories of the football season when people thought we were going to be good because we played BYU and Oregon State tough.
