Price recently finished his 10th year in charge of the Eagles, coming off an 8-22 season. Overall Price posted a record of 165-133 at Georgia Southern, 89-73 in the Southern Conference and 6-10 in the SoCon Tournament. He stands third in career Georgia Southern victories.
“I will forever be grateful for the opportunity to coach at Georgia Southern University. I felt like at this time it was best for all parties involved to move on in my career. I feel like we have done some tremendous things during the past 10 years with the program and I wish them nothing but the best of luck in the future.”

Georgia Southern has a vacant head-coaching job. Georgia Tech assistant Charlton Young is a 1994 grad of Georgia Southern, where he starred as a player.
Could there be a match?
“It is his alma mater, but they haven’t contacted me, they haven’t contacted Charlton,” Tech coach Paul Hewitt said Tuesday evening. “I don’t know who they’re looking at. Obviously, I think the world of Charlton. I think he is more than ready for a head-coaching job. I’d hate to lose him.”
Young declined to comment.
Eagles coach Jeff Price resigned Monday after 10 years on the job. His team finished 8-22 this season.
According to the Savannah Morning News, three players were suspended for the final 10 games for institutional and departmental issues. The newspaper also said Young “would appear to be one of the leading candidates” to replace Price.
Eagles athletics director Sam Baker told the newspaper only that “everyone out there will be considered.”
An excellent recruiter, the 37-year-old Young just finished his fourth season at Tech. He also has been an assistant coach at Auburn, Jacksonville, Northeastern and Chattanooga.
An All-Southern Conference selection as a senior at Georgia Southern, Young set school records for assists (530), career 3-pointers made (241) and 3-pointers made in a season (93). He was elected to Georgia Southern’s Hall of Fame last year.
