My God does Maryland suck. Not that they were going anywhere, but yet another close loss. Their 8th loss this season with a one possession game with under a minute to go. :ohno:

They have not been anything since Gary Williams left and they won the '03 NCAA crown led by Juan Dixon.

Michigan looks to be a tough out in the NCAA's. In the semifinal Big 10 win over MSU, their top 5 scorers had 15,15,15,13 and 12 points. Good defensive team lately as well.

Harvard is the #1 seed in the second-ever Ivy Madness courtesy of a complicated tiebreaker scenario: they split the series with the Quackers (#2 seed) but swept Yale (#3 seed). Cornell is the #4 seed after both Columbia and Princeton lost and we face them on Saturday.

67-66 a 3 point shot did the Cavs in!!!! UVA they depend on defense to get them over the hump they are one of the worst offensive teams in D1.

I agree they likely won't make the Final 4, but they should make a decent showing in the tournament. I do think that Tony Bennett is one of the best coaches in the country though. Virginia should do everything they can to keep him around for a while. And if he can compete with the Duke's, UNC's, UK's, etc, for some of the top recruits, they may finally land a Championship one year.

This is one of UVA's best offensive teams ever, while remaining the best defensive team in the nation. Per kenpom, UVA is 39th in offensive efficiency (and 1st in defensive efficiency). That's historically a nice place to be to be a contender to make the Final Four. I wouldn't want to play UVA in the tournament, and they're probably the only team I'd say that about.

Your final 4 will be Duke, Villanova, Michigan State, and some wild card that won't be Virginia.

Duke's been quietly good this year. They are 2nd and 10th in the nation for offense and defense respectively, per kenpom, and have done it against the 6th best schedule in the nation (pretty decent non conference schedule ranked at #47). If they win the ACC tourney they're a lock for the #1 seed in the East (actually maybe the South - South regional is in Atlanta this year, East is in Boston - they may think Atlanta is a better place to be). Only Michigan St is close to them in terms of both highly ranked D and O - Michigan St is 11th and 9th for offense and defense.

 I watched Bennett's teams when he was at WAZZU and they couldn't seem to get over the offensive hurdle but the job he did in Pullman with was impressive with back to back 26 win seasons, a 3 seed, and trip to the Sweet 16.

This year's team does appear to have enough offense to contend for a title. I think they're a good bet for the at least the final four.

Methinks you are wrong on the final four. We'll know soon enough.

Keep in mind that this UVA team was picked to finish 6th in the ACC this year.
