Interesting case for Jacksonville State. Bellarmine won the ASun tournament but they are still in transition to DI and are not eligible for March Madness. Bellarmine beat Jacksonville, but it is Jacksonville State that is going.

A bunch of people are pushing the NCAA to change that horrible rule, but no word from the NCAA yet....

They won't change it. Bellarmine knew the rule when they moved to DI.

I would think that, if Bellarmine can't go, it should be the other team that made it to the championship. In that case, Jacksonville would go and not Jacksonville State.

I agree with you. They won't change the rule THIS year. But there COULD be enough pressure to change it in the future. Sort of like that bogus NIL cr@p....

Pretty sure the conference spelled out the conditions for the autobid before the season started or at least before their conference tournament. Everyone went in knowing you had to win the conference tournament or the regular season first place team would get the bid. Can't really complain about it after the fact.

I just feel bad for Jacksonville. I don't have a horse in the race, but it just seems to me that if the team that beats you in the championship game can't go to the Big Dance, then you should be able to go instead of the team that you beat in the semis to get to the championship game. The semifinal game should carry some merit, I would think.

I like the way they did it. Jacksonville didn't win anything - either the regular season or the tournament. Jacksonville State did earn it.

I'll let Venus handle the big bracket reveal, but let it be known that the Kitties get to stay in the West Region with the #14 seed against #3 Texas Tech. That might actually be a winnable game. Should the Kitties win, they'll get the winner of #6 Alabama against the play-in winner....

FYI: They're citing these "quadrants." I had no idea what they were talking about, so I had to look it up. If you're not aware, either, it depends on opponent ranking and whether or not you get them at home, on the road, or on a neutral court. A Quad 1 win is "good," while a Quad 4 loss is "devastating." To wit:
Quad 1: Home game against 1-30, Neutral game against 1-50, Road game against 1-75.
Quad 2: Home game against 31-75, Neutral game against 51-100, Road game against 76-135.
Quad 3: Home game against 76-160, Neutral game against 101-200, Road game against 135-240.
Quad 4: Home game against 161-353, Neutral game against 201-353, Road game against 241-353.

nova doesn't really have the defense, or the consistent offense right now, to win it all. They have a decent draw considering the side of the bracket they're in, but I wouldn't have confidence they can avoid an offensive rut or stop enough people 6 games in a row to win it all.

TSU played horribly in the first half starting out with multiple turnovers and shooting bricks from long distance vs A&MCC inspite of 76-67 win.
