That's seriously how they're running the first round? Shouldn't it be 7 vs. 10, winner to 2, and 8 vs. 9, winner to 1?

Not that I really want to face EWU after beating ID State, but I'm not a fan of re-seeding, either....

I assume it's so they can guarantee the #1 seed faces the weakest first-round winner without having to do a floating bracket. The Big Sky actually isn't the only league doing it this way now. I know the ASun is doing the 9/10 and 7/8 thing, too.

Nice 2nd half of the season for the Hornets under Coach Kallhoff. During that stretch, most of the losses were by 6 points or less. Good to see this team get an opening round win in Boise and then battling NAU for two and a half quarters before running out of gas. Lots of young talent to build around, if Kallhoff can add some quality depth, this will be a competitive team for the foreseeable future.

With this victory by NAU, the Big Sky (incl. the MWAC) has multiple 25-game winners for the first time since 1986.

Eastern Washington also tied the Big Sky record with 28 overall wins (tying Montana in '88 and '09).

I could be wrong but our first but our first BSC title in any sport may have been ‘86 won’t hoops. Although we may also have been MWAC at that time.

Edit: I missed where you included MWAC. ;)

Eastern won the MWAC tournament in '87 (by upsetting the Lady Griz in Missoula). In '86, Montana had 27 wins and Idaho had 26.

NAU dominated the first quarter, EWU dominated the second. It's been even the entire second half.
