How lucky to be a Coangelo right now? You walk into a perfect spot where you already have some pieces, you're about to get a lot more pieces, and you have at least a good lottery pick next year. Good time to be a Sixers fan, it's all getting better and soon. Thank you Sam Hinkie, wherever you are (pretty cool the thousands of fans chanting "trust the process" at the watch party after the #1 pick was revealed)

Sam Hinkie Vindicated - Tanking Wins!
#1 pick in the draft, so this year the Sixers get to add what will probably be Ben Simmons, a healthy Joel Embiid, Dario Saric is coming over from Europe, and we get a later first round pick (I'm crossing my fingers to pick Bembry from St. Joe's - cool fro he was sporting last year). So that's 4 new players before any free agents and you add that to Okafor (who I keep if you get Simmons as you need his shooting - I would trade Okafor if they draft Ingram as he fills that scoring role) and possibly Nerlens Noel (I keep one of Noel or Okafor - so trade Noel if we get Simmons). Plus, the Lakers pick didn't come to us this year but that just means that we have a real good shot at a lottery pick next year as the Lakers will still be bad but more likely not to be top 3 bad.

Okafor to the Celts for the #3 pick? Murray or Dunn?

I'm not a fan of Dunn. Besides, if you pick Simmons you don't draft a PG as well.bluehenbillk wrote:Okafor to the Celts for the #3 pick? Murray or Dunn?

Even with all of that, you can't say he is vindicated until the team actually does something on the court.

Not too many people really give a shit about the Sixers, so at least there's no pressure. They sort of rival the MLS team in Chester for sports popularity in the Delaware Valley.

Tanking wins...after what, a full decade of it?
Re: Sam Hinkie Vindicated - Tanking Wins!
I think they only tanked maybe three years. They legitimately sucked the years before that. Last finals was like 2001 or so?Grizalltheway wrote:Tanking wins...after what, a full decade of it?

Reminds me of the Oilers. No matter how many high draft picks they're gifted, management is just too incompetent to put together anything resembling a competitive team.

Yes, it was jut three years of official tanking. Before that they were bad but not on purpose, and they weren't as bad as the tanking years as they had a string of #8 through #12 picks that amounted to very little.93henfan wrote:I think they only tanked maybe three years. They'll be a fun team to watch next year, a playoff team the year after that, and a legit conference title contender in 4 years. If I'm not alive then that would suck for me.AZGrizFan wrote:Will you still be alive?GannonFan wrote:

I'll give you that the Sixers have been the #4 team in town for a while, and if you're tanking for three straight seasons why wouldn't they be? But in the same breath as the Union? I live 20 minutes from their stadium & at most could name 1 guy on the team. If that.93henfan wrote:Not too many people really give a **** about the Sixers, so at least there's no pressure. And a lot of those alleged 14,881 from this year were ghosts.93henfan wrote:Philadelphia 76ers (avg home attendance - five year intervals since Dr J)

I'll agree that when it comes to soccer, BHBK has a huge blind side concerning the popularity of soccer and the number of people who enjoy it. But to be fair, the Union plays about 17-20 home games a year when you factor in cup play with the regular season games. The Sixers play 41 home games so about 2x the number of Union games. And Sixers tickets are probably double the price of a Union ticket to boot.

Actually, the soccer club my kids belong to get Union tickets they sell to the rest of the club and those are actually at half the price you could buy the seat if you bought them straight from the Union. It's a good deal, they'll even sell you a half priced parking pass and the seats are at about the 18 at one side of the field. I like being near the supporter's end, it's a little more fun that way, but for half price you can't beat it.Ivytalk wrote:But maybe worth half the price.GannonFan wrote:

Oh, and attending more than one Union game last year, the ghosts where not just at the Wells Fargo Center, apparently ghosts are soccer fans as well.
