Redskins ban signs at FedEx

Post by DukeJack »

Up until October 4th, a page on the Redskins site said that any signs deemed inappropriate or offensive would not be allowed in the stadium. As of yesterday, that policy was amended to include all signs, because:

1) They block the view of others and
2) They could cut or injure someone's eyes

This ignores the seats which have obstructed viewing to begin with and security knew of the new regulations, but did not why they were implemented.

Danny Boy's got some serious ego issues and is ruining that team's fanbase. I'm no Skins fan, my friends say my parents moved to Dallas for the "wrong" years, but that team has always served as the base of DC sports. It really is disgusting to watch this, and I can't imagine what some of my friends are going through.

Some confiscated and trashed signs:

I would think blocking the view would only improve things since you don't have to watch the Skins play.

It's a shit-show at FedEx, that's for sure.

As a skins fan, my only hope is that things get worse. Yes, worse  . So bad that Dannyboy is forced to do something beyond just throwing out gobs of money at coaches and players.

He won't ever quit. Or sell. I wish he would sell back to the Cooke family though (if they could afford it) because Jr. at least realized that he couldn't run the football team on the field.

I have some sort of dim hope that Dannyboy will figure it out eventually. I mean, he is a great business man who was able to buy an NFL franchise. If you can figure out how to do that, I would think you could figure out that your only job as an NFL owner is really to sign the checks, not be the one who decides who to write the checks to. He didn't get to where he is as a business man by himself...you'd think he would realize that he needs to hire people that know what they are doing to run his franchise.

Myself and alot of my friends who are Redskins fans have all said this recently....this is not the Redskins team we grew up watching and being so proud of. This is not the same product. People laugh at the Redskins (and rightfully so) because of what a joke the franchise is now. Times were much better as a Redskins fan when people hated the Redskins because of the teams success (i.e. the Patriots of now...before their Super Bowls no one, including people in New England, really cared about them.)

Agreed.

During the Chiefs game when people were chanting sell the team, the Post reported how shocked Snyder and Cerrato were, that their egos are such they could not possibly believe the fans would hold them responsible.

I honestly trace a lot of this back to Snyder growing up as a Skins fan and hating the Cowboys, and a massive inferiority complex he has towards that team and Jerry Jones. Everything Jones does, Snyder tries to outdo him. Now that the Cowboys Stadium is open, I fully expect Danny boy to try and convince DC to allow him to build a 1-Upsmanship Dome on the RFK site. The only difference between the two teams is that Jones has just the slightest bit of football sense and that's kept him from ruining the Cowboys the way Snyder has the Redskins.

I honestly don't ever expect Snyder to admit that he can't do what Jones has and as long as he believes he can out-do whatever the Cowboys have done, the Redskins are in serious trouble. I haven't even been able to hate them the last few years, I just feel worse for everyone who cheers for them.

Li'l Danny has destroyed my favorite team. Al Davis is senile and old, but at least Raider fans know he won't be around much longer. Dannyboy is not going anywhere for a LONG LONG time.
We are a laughing stock to the rest of the NFL world.

Disgraceful what he has done.

Why does this sound like this could also apply to Jerry Jones and George Steinbrenner? Well, at least GS finally got the picture and butted out, returning the Yankees to some glory. (and I'm not a Yankee fan)

This is how Eagles fans felt under Norman Braman/Rich Kotite. Luckily, the team was sold within five years. May you be so lucky.

Update: Official Geico team signs and towels ok, outside ones no

Oh, and any t-shirts are allowed for some reason

They have also banned media interviewing tailgaters:
"We DO have a prohibition against signs and banners in the stadium, and we don't care what they say, we take 'em down," Redskins general counsel David Donovan said in a truly gripping interview on 106.7 The Fan's Mike Wise Show Tuesday afternoon. "They get in the way of other people viewing the game, and people get poked in the head. That stuff happens. We have an absolute prohibition. We don't care what [the signs] say."
