Getting back to the original discussion, I never said that goal post type pads would have saved his life, I said some sort of safety device. Are you, the self-proclaimed physicist, saying that a padded wall or a net that completely separates the steel beams from the track wouldn't do any good?AZGrizFan wrote:As I suspected: no physics. Yeah, and if you hit something that sufficiently softens the impact of a crash, you at least have a chance of surviving said crash. Ever heard of airbags?
Oh, and I only have one liberal arts degree. The other is in International Business.

It's a done deal. The wall is up, as well as pads (which are a bit of a joke IMHO) past the wall. They also moved the men's start well down the course to where the women start, reducing speeds by ~10 mph:Grizalltheway wrote:Getting back to the original discussion, I never said that goal post type pads would have saved his life, I said some sort of safety device. I'm shocked they showed the impact on NBC. Never seen them show someone die. Bad taste if you ask me.
