Astros general manager Ed Wade says ace Roy Oswalt(notes) has asked to be traded.
Wade says Oswalt’s agent, Bob Garber, contacted Houston owner Drayton McLane earlier this week to make the request.
Wade says he wants to win with Oswalt on the Astros. Houston went into Friday night’s game against Tampa Bay with the worst record in the National League at 14-27.
Oswalt has made nine straight quality starts to open the season but is 2-6 despite a 2.66 ERA. He has gotten the lowest run support in the league.
The 32-year-old Oswalt has a no-trade clause in his contract. He recently said he would be willing to waive it.

Re: Oswalt wants out of Houston
This is quite interesting. The last I'd heard, he said he wouldn't be averse to waiving the no-trade clause (to the right team, of course) IF IT WOULD HELP THE ASTROS REBUILD. Hardly a request to be traded.
But that was a week or two ago. Things can change in such a span of time. I'm shocked. I would tend to think of Oswalt as the face of the Astros right now. A trade could possibly trigger a fan walkout.

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

The Yankees should offer Vasquez and Park for him.
