Head of B(C)$ tells Baucus, Hatch to Butt Out

Oh, how they love to spin.

Yahoo!/Rivals is reporting that B(C)$ executive director Bill Hancock recently sent a five-page missive (with six pages of attachments) to Sens Max Baucus (D-MT) and Orrin Hatch (R-UT) saying that the B(C)$ is "voluntary." Sure it's voluntary. The problem is that if you don't play along, you don't get a title or a share of the pie. He tried to insinuate that Utah's record run in 2008 would have been worse without the B(C)$: instead of getting $9M in the Sugar Bowl, it would have been $900K in the Las Vegas Bowl. What he's not saying is that that's because he pulls every string he can to keep the little guys out. Hence the two undefeateds who were forced to square off in the Fiesta Bowl this past January as opposed to one going for a rightly deserved title shot.

This is EXACTLY why I refuse to give any credence to FBS.

Look, Congress isn't going to get anything else done between now & November because all the incumbents are sweating re-election. What this letter shows is the BCS has zero intention of even thinking about changing. Cmon Congress step up & force change!!!
