This is a giant "meh"

I'm sure Travis will throw a shit fit about it, but shit like this happens. It's no different than a player trapping a ball and acting like they caught it. The ump is the one that fucked up, not Jeter. He just did what he had to do to help his team try to win.

Jeter is a coward and is overrated, he should be banned from baseball for this.

That should get JoltinJoes attention.:)

Two words: instant replay.

Would have saved two minutes, an ejection, and a blown call.

Jeter's a bitch.. yes... but they all do their acting jobs... why the fuck would I care.... though I agree with what I been reading, had A Rod been the one the outrage would be a lot louder around the web.

This happens all the time, it's part of baseball. ESPN just needed something for all their talk shows to discuss today. Yesterday it was Reggie Bush.

Arod is huge douche, and has been a douche his whole career. You're damn right there would be more outrage if it were him.

Agreed.

Great play on Jeter's part. It's MLB and he is paid to help his team win. If MLB doesn't want replay, which would easily reversed that call, then MLB has to expect stuff like that.

I also like Jeter's honesty afterwards.

Agreed, if a guy wants to get hit so bad, you put the next one in his ear.

I doubt he gets hit. The Rays may have a problem with the umps, but I think they admire Jeters play.

The Rays went with the bad boy, you hit us we hit you, when we still wore purple and green and couldn't win 80 games a year. Since then we don't really do it as much. And we had more of a beef with the ump. Honestly, the ball still hit Jeter, just on the way back. Everyone in the Rays dugout could see the play (Jeter was batting facing the Rays dugout) so they saw it hit the bat, then hit Jeter. Not to mention he was holding a bat that got hit by a MLB pitch with one hand, and I'm sure that hurt, too. So it wasn't a total acting job.

But yeah, the Rays dugout saw the whole play. Everyone heard the ball hit the bat. The Rays pitchers in the dugout were telling the guys on the field to throw the ball to first and step on first, since the ball left the bat and went in play, just in case.

The worst part of all of this is that once the umps got together and decided that none of them heard the huge crack of the bat noise that was heard by everyone else, they tossed Maddon for arguing the correct call. I mean, to be fair, Maddon wouldn't have stopped arguing until he got tossed, but against the Yankees, you can't be giving free bases away. He had to fight to get his team the best chance to win.

But Dan F****** Johnson got revenge. So it's all good. The Great Pumpkin strikes again!

Yup, hit him next time. It's one thing to run down to first as if you got hit. Sitting there and play acting the injury is something else altogether.

What Minka Kelly sees in this guy (other than all that money) is beyond me.
