Each clasification is divided into 2, like DI
Finals today and tonight @ Cowboys Stadium (and on Fox Southwest here)
would put us to shame. 43K plus at this game
Class 5A DI pits Euless Trinity (ranked #1 in the nation) vs. Pearland (we have players from there, outside Houston)
Pearland just had one of the best "trick" plays I've seen live.
The O line just stood there. The RB and WRs stood around with their hands on their hips like they were getting the play from the QB
Only one 'down' was the center
The Euless D was just hanging around waiting for the O to set, which they never did
Ball snapped, WR takes off, QB throws a bomb...TD...and the D is still just standing there..stunned

Re: Texas High School Football Championship
Sounds very similar to what was described to me as "The Duck." It was a variation on the Swinging Gate that saw the tight end snapping to a shotgun QB with FB and flanker with him, while the tailback is behind a ready-made screen on the other side of the field. The QB just counts the number of defenders on his side of the field to decide what to do. My UOP teammates put me onto this, though we never used it. I drafted three plays to run with it: hit the screen RIGHT NOW if the defense overloads the QB's side; a pass play featuring a flanker post, TE wheel, and FB check-thru if the number of defenders on the QB side is roughly equivalent to the guys he has there; and a QB takeoff if almost everyone is on the other side.
What you saw sounds like a ton of fun, CatMom. I would love to have seen it. Trick plays are awesome when they work.
EDIT: I know we've been through this before, but what the cr@p is so cuss-worthy about the word F-U-L-L-B-A-C-K?!?

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.
