Pedro Wants Sox Return; Boston Hat In HOF
In an interview Pedro Martinez said he wants to return to the Red Sox and help them win another World Series, he also said Philadelphia would be a place he wouldnt mind returning to.
On Boston Pedro said, "I think Boston is more suitable so that I can retire with the Boston Red Sox and go to the Hall of Fame with the same hat."
As the rosters stand now he thinks Philadelphia will top Boston in the World Series.

1-7. An aging has-been isn't going to win them the WS.

he's not a "twins way" kind of player - but I'd love for him to come here - teach Frankie Liriano how to pitch like an ace...

Already seen that movie. Pass.
I mean, the Phils already have to decide which of Halladay, Lee, Oswalt, or Hamels won't be starting in the playoffs. Then you have that guy and Blanton for spot relief.
Maybe Martinez can play bat boy? Team hair and fashion consultant?

why not go 4 deep in a playoff rotation? would seem a huge advantage...93henfan wrote:Already seen that movie. Pass.

Actually, I think you almost need to go with 4 in the rotation - I think they condensed the schedule a bit starting last year and going with a 3 man rotation means everyone's on short rest. Phils should be fine either way.TwinTownBisonFan wrote:why not go 4 deep in a playoff rotation? would seem a huge advantage...93henfan wrote:Already seen that movie. Pass.

right and given that all 4 would be the game 1 starter for nearly any other team...GannonFan wrote:Actually, I think you almost need to go with 4 in the rotation - I think they condensed the schedule a bit starting last year and going with a 3 man rotation means everyone's on short rest. Well, 2 of them (Halladay and Lee) for certain, and Hamels if he continues this year as he finished last year would be as well. Oswalt, while still very, very good, isn't the Oswalt of his younger days. There are some teams he wouldn't be a #1 on, but at that point we're shaving hairs. Point taken.TwinTownBisonFan wrote:right and given that all 4 would be the game 1 starter for nearly any other team...GannonFan wrote:

To be fair that discussion is between Oswalt and Hamels... Lee and Halladay are in the playoff rotation... assuming Philly makes the playoffs.93henfan wrote:Already seen that movie. Pass.

Ha! We're 5 games above .500, not 5 games looking up at it..... There's not a club in baseball that wants a piece of our rotation, no matter what you do, you're going to be looking at 2 if not 3 #1's.UNHWildCats wrote:... assuming Philly makes the playoffs.
