Certainly not me. I started getting a bad feeling in game 1 when Detroit missed a couple of good chances to go up 2-0. Then Bertuzzi takes a bad penalty, the Sharks tie it on the ensuing power play, and.........
I had Detroit as my pick from the West to easily make it to the finals, especially after seeing Vancouver, their biggest threat IMO, nearly implode against Chicago. And I had Philly/Washington battling it out for the East (can you imagine the shit show that would have been here??? :ohno: ). But at least Detroit/Philly still have a shot to move on....it's a long shot, but it's not impossible. :thumb:

The Flyers played competitively to go down 3-0 to the Bruins last year. This year, they've bent over, winked, and handed Boston a tube of butt lube.

bandl, the odds of your fondling Rachel McAdams are far greater than the Flyers' chances at this point!

 No doubt. I was really pulling for Philly in the series. On the other hand, I'm positively delighted to see the Caps eliminated.

Up next: Detroit.

As was mentioned by an earlier poster about 3 of the best teams in the NHL being down 3-0 or swept in 4 games in the second round...

I would say the better teams wins out always in these types of series. While some teams certainly matchup better regardless of record, the best team between the two in any given series will win the series...

If the series were close then the arguement could be made about the better team losing, but the fact is a team that is swept of loses in 5 games was not as good as once thought. The Caps have been a great regular season team for years, but they are not built for the playoffs...their goaltending has been a question, and did not address that.

The Bruins are better then the Flyers...maybe that has to do with the injuries the FLyers have? Maybe not, since Savard has been out for the Bruins...maybe its simply just their poor goaltending...really its a number of things, but I will always stick to the best team winning. This isn't college basketball after all.

This is where you lose all credit. The Caps did not have an issue at goaltender.

Not completely true. Neuvy let in a few cupcakes, while goalies like Roly and Thomas have been absolutely studs.

Neuvy is 10th in save %, 7th in Goals against. Those are not numbers that get you to the conference finals. Roly and Thomas are 1/2 and 1/3 in those categories.

He hasn't been terrible, but by no means has he been top tier...that is what I mean by their issue at goaltending. If they had gone out and gotten a top tier goalie they would not have been swept out of the playoffs by TB. He is better then most though...no doubts there.

3-2 and headed back to Motown, who'd a thunk it? :thumb:

All five games decided by one goal.

Well it looks like Z will have to suffer through having the NHL in his state for at least one more year...

http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/news/story?id=6524858
NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly made those comments late Tuesday night after a marathon Glendale City Council meeting ended with a 5-2 vote in favor of giving the league $25 million in operating costs to keep the Coyotes in Arizona for another season.
What do they think they'll turn around in another year? The Coyotes were a darned good team this year and still were next to last in attendance. :ohno:

Congratulations San Jose on avoiding the choke. :ohno: Quite a series, I believe that the two teams combined for the same number of total goals. Six games decided by one goal.

Now Go Canucks! Teams from California shouldn't win the Stanley Cup.

Heard last night that the next Winter Classic will be in Philadelphia at Citizens Bank Park. Flyers will host the Rangers.

Frickin' sweet. Although I'd like to see a better visiting team....Rangers are pretty boring to watch. But at least they have a big fanbase that's not too far up the road.

Is it consistently cold enough in Philly?

Philly in January? I would think so. How do you think their fans stay so cold-hearted?

Official? This has been floating around for months. This actually SUCKS for me. Much easier to get tix if it were in the Linc, but the NFL fucked Philly for the WC scheduling a home game for the Eagles.

610WIP this morning said the "conflict with the Eagles" is complete bullshit. The real story is that the NHL contacted the Eagles first and they drove an unreasonable bargain as usual, so they went to the Phillies who were amicable.

Philly winters are like a box of chocolates...

Seriously, the range of weather could be anywhere from a high of 15 to a high of 60. You never know.

Do the teams themselves have any say in the NFL scheduling? I figure NHL and NBA do because their arenas are used for circus, horse show, dog show, concerts, etc...

Either way, it definitely is being reported that it will be CBP on January 2nd. IMO this sucks two times. First being at a 45,000 seater but second being on Jan 2, a Monday. Yes, it's a holiday, but it's not the same as being on NY day. I was hoping they'd make it prime time on NYE.
