ESPN's Keith Law hated it, so I'm assuming I will love it.
Re: Moneyball movie
Is it a sports movie....or a chick flick that happens to have sports in it
Re: Moneyball movie
Haha, looks like Law was a Riccardi underling. No bias thereUNHWildCats wrote:ESPN's Keith Law hated it, so I'm assuming I will love it.

Re: Moneyball movie
Since this movie is about Billy Beane, I expect that it will be nominated for a lot of awards, but ultimately will not win any of them.

And, Scott Hatteberg plays himself!

Of course it won't. The movies that win are the ones that throw millions upon millions into their end-of-year campaigningJoltinJoe wrote:Since this about Billy Beane, I expect that it will be nominated for a lot of awards, but ultimately will not win any of them.

I've wondered the same thing, if Billy Beane is so great than why didn't the A's win any championships?AshevilleApp wrote:JoltinJoe wrote:Since this movie is about Billy Beane, I expect that it will be nominated for a lot of awards, but ultimately will not win any of them.![]()

However, I'm still gonna see the movie regardless. Looks like a great sports movie.

Re: Moneyball movie
saw it today (the perks of waiting for a new job to start)
Sorkin did a hell of a job with the script.., but it drags in places.
Philip Seymour Hoffman should get a lot of love for his portrayal of Art Howe... he was great.
I liked it - especially the part about 2002 LDS
More than that - I LOVED the accuracy in regard to the games. The players on the other teams were accurate - down to uniform numbers and what they were doing in each game...
also amusing - the cameos...
Royce Clayton as Miguel Tejada
Tom Gamboa as one of the scouts
Chad Krueter as the pitching coach
didn't get a good look at who played the Twins - but they showed Pierzynski, Guardado and Koskie up close - I know Eddie Guardado and Pierzynski were played by actors - but Koskie was either a great job of casting - or the man himself.

It's kinda funny that this joke went right over your head. I guess it's not just the subtleties of baseball that saberheads miss.Silenoz wrote:Of course it won't. Re: Moneyball movie
Uh, no it didn't. In fact my follow-up joke was playing off of your joke, but I guess that went over your head

Although it was the "end-of-year" thing that got me. If he had said they threw millions into their pre-release hype, it would be more accurate and consistent.
