Cards, Dansby begin contract talks
The Cardinals and the agent for inside linebacker Karlos Dansby have opened negotiations for a new contract in the hopes a deal can be struck before free agency begins at the end of the month.
Agent Kirk Wood met with General Manager Rod Graves during the playoffs, Wood said, and the two have talked on the phone since. Wood said negotiations are in the preliminary stages and declined to discuss details.
Dansby played under the franchise tender of $8.065 million last season and is believed to be seeking a deal worth more than the six-year, $42 million contract that Calvin Pace signed with the Jets last spring.
That contract included about $20 million guaranteed.
The Cardinals could use the franchise tag on Dansby again, guaranteeing him about $9.7 million in 2009, but severely restricting his options in free agency.

What, after three DBs threw the Super Bowl that Warner/Fitzgerald and Co actually had won? Of course the guy got canned after allowing three Everson Walls clones to do that.

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

Warner: Boldin would make decision easier
When No. 13 waved to cheering fans and disappeared into the dark tunnel at Aloha Stadium, then retreated quietly to his locker, it may have been the final time for Kurt Warner in an NFL uniform.
After leading the Arizona Cardinals to an improbable run to the Super Bowl and playing in Sunday's Pro Bowl, Warner will now have time to rest and contemplate retirement.
"I'm glad we had the season that we did, and I enjoyed every minute of it, but I'm very much looking forward to the offseason," he said.

Fitzgerald earns MVP at Pro Bowl
With a huge red lei around his neck and a wide grin that could have stretched across Oahu, Larry Fitzgerald held up the gleaming, silver MVP trophy. It sparkled in the sunshine as much as his game.
The only problem: It wasn't the Lombardi Trophy.
Fitzgerald caught five passes for 81 yards and two touchdowns, 44-year-old John Carney kicked two fourth-quarter field goals, and the NFC rallied to a 30-21 victory over the AFC.
The Arizona Cardinals' All-Pro receiver, coming off a record-breaking postseason and a spectacular Super Bowl in a loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, earned MVP honors.

As expected, the Cardinals placed the franchise tag on Karlos Dansby.

Cardinals Land McFadden
The Cardinals weren’t going to chase a lot of free agents this offseason, but they had a priority list – and cornerback Bryant McFadden was at the top.
So Sunday, a few days after the team re-signed the most important free agent from its own roster in quarterback Kurt Warner, the team landed McFadden when the former Steeler agreed to a two-year contract worth $10 million. McFadden will receive $5 million in the first year of the deal, including a $3.75 million salary.

Re: Official Arizona Cardinals Offseason Thread
Former Broncos long-snapper Mike Leach has agreed to terms with the Arizona Cardinals on a three-year contract. Further contract details were not available.
Leach had been the Broncos' long snapper the previous 6-1/2 seasons.
He requested his release after the Broncos signed former New England long snapper Lonnie Paxton to a five-year deal on Feb. 27.
