MLB swings & misses

Post by bluehenbillk »

:dunce: Bud Selig :dunce: ....years from now everyone will say, what was baseball thinking.

Baseball, showing the lack of brains that runs the game, voted yesterday for a 2-3 playoff format for the NLDS & ALDS.

Meaning the team with the worse record plays Games 1& 2 at home and then 3-5 on the road. Huh? Yeah.

F'ing stupid.

Lighten up. Those long coast to coast train rides and regional bus rides put a lot of wear and tear on the players.

I think this latest layer of wild cards is a big whiff. :ohno:

Actually I like that move. Finally, home field may play a role. But I still want a 7 game series for the ALDS/NLDS

Like which move? The fact that the best team could be down 0-2 before playing a home game?

You want to make home field worth it? Give the higher seed 4 home games in 5 game series and 5 home games in a 7 game series. That will make it worth it

I'd go a step further, the wild card doesn't get any home games in the division or championship series.

Home field is not as big of a factor in baseball as other sports, with exceptions like in the Metrodome in 1987 and 1991.
I would like to see a 7 game series in the alds also, but I have no problem with the 2-3 format. The 1984 Padres are a good example of winning at home in a 5 game series, when the NLCS was 5 games and 2-3 format, the Cubs won game 1&2 at home and the Padres swept in San Diego.
