Another No-No

Post by SuperHornet »

Johan Santana has come back from last year's season-ending shoulder surgery in fine style by no-hitting St. Louis today. He was aided by an incredible catch in left field and a bad foul call on Carlos Beltran's liner down the left field line, but he got the job done.

This is the first no-no in Mets history after 8,020 games since their inception in 1962, beating out incredible names like Tom Seaver and Nolan Ryan (who got tons of them later on). It is also the third such gem of the year, following Jered Weaver's zero-hit game for the Halos against Minnesota 02 MAY and Phil Humber's perfecto against Seattle for the ChiSox 21 APR.

I'm definitely not a fan of the Mets, but these things don't happen very often. Congratulations, Johan!

That will probably be the sole highlight of the Mutts' season. :coffee:

Mets are 29-23. Everyone predicted that they'd 23-29 at the best so far this year at this point so it has been a good year so far.

Insanely tough division this year though. Even with their record, they are 1 game out of 1st (but in the WC position) but only 1.5 games out of last.

Congrats Santana.

Shouldn't have been a no hitter.

Another example of why baseball needs replay.

Yeah, on the broadcast you can clearly see where the ball hit the chalk. I always find it amazing how umps can blatantly miss a call and flat out refuse to change them.

Oh well. At least we won't have to hear about the Mets never having a no-no anymore. The Padres are the only team to have never had one now. And no one cares about the Padres. (ECB)

Apparently, human error is also part of the commissioners office. Selig is a jackass.
