It happened last night. Of course, it's a convoluted way to get there. The Tacoma Rainiers (AAA PCL) were just about out of pitchers (not to mention position players) when they moved their DH to first and their first baseman to the mound in a 1-1 18th inning tie. It was Scott Savastano's second official AB since replacing the original 1B in extra innings. Prior to the ultimate AB, he walked and whiffed. But he came up as the pitcher after moving to the mound in the top half and having thrown a perfect 18th. He jacked a 3-2 pitch to left for the rare "pitcher" walkoff HR.

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.
