Louisiana's John Curtis Christian came into the game last night ranked #6 in the USA Today high school football poll and Florida's Plant came in ranked #7. It was no contest. 33-3 Curtis and it could've been worse as Curtis missed two extra points, missed two field goals, and had a touchdown interception return called back.
John Curtis is the defending Louisiana 2A champion while Plant is the defending Florida 8A champion. The game was the second of a Louisiana/Florida double header with the first game being 2011 Florida 7A playoff participant Lincoln High of Tallahassee vs. 2011 Louisiana 5A playoff participant St. Paul's of Covington. Lincoln won that one 14-13.

Curtis returns the bulk of a deep and talented roster from a 14-0 team that captured the River Ridge school’s 24th state football championship in 2011. The state title further extended the Louisiana record already owned by the Patriots.
Plant has won three state championships and been runner-up once during the past four years. The Panthers went 14-1 in 2011 while capturing a Class 8A state crown. Plant alumni include Georgia quarterback Aaron Murray.
Lincoln won eight straight games during a 9-2 season a year ago that ended with a first-round exit in the state playoffs following a Class 4A state championship season in 2010. The Trojans have won 13 consecutive district championships and feature former players such as New York Jets cornerback Antonio Cromartie and current South Florida quarterback B.J. Daniels.
St. Paul’s is a perennial Louisiana power that was ranked No. 1 in both the Class 5A state poll and among Metro area large schools with a 10-0 record prior to a first-round exit in the state playoffs. The Wolves have recorded 10-0 records in each of the past two seasons while going 32-4 over the past three seasons and 67-16 overall in eight years under Coach Ken Sears.
