Might be a pretty good year to be a Niners fan.

That won't help... Dallas' problems today weren't just on Romo. You need a team that plays tough, physical football. Strong D, strong run game.
The issue is Romo is the sexy person to blame all of the teams faults on.
49ers - yes, I'd assume we're all in agreement with that one...

Re: NFL, is your team good?
I wish I could say that I had a favorite NFL team. Sadly, the Roger Goodell-led NFL and the disease known as fantasy football completely pushed me off the NFL bandwagon. It's more like I'm riding in a car alongside the bandwagon, listening to what's going on, but not engaged. Despite all this, even when I passionately followed the NFL, I couldn't maintain any interest in a NFL team for more than a few years at a time. Call it fair-weather, call it fickle. It's a byproduct of growing up in 2 different states and not really getting a childhood attachment to any one team. I kind of liked the Cowboys in the 90's like every other kid in school. I liked watching Marshall Faulk and Kurt Warner, so I followed the Rams for a time after Troy Aikman and Steve Young (my favorite players when I was a kid) left the game. When A.J. Hawk (my all-time favorite college player to date) was done taking names at Ohio State, I followed him and the Packers. My folks are all diehard Packers fans, but I can't stand their fans or playing style, so I'm reticent to call myself a Packers fan.
Pretty much all this boils down to is that I watch teams with players I like, not any one team, and I like watching teams that play like college teams. Which basically eliminates 3/4ths of the NFL. I'm basically left with Carolina, San Francisco, Houston, and now Washington for teams that run "collegiate" offenses or playing styles. Pretty sad, I know.
Perhaps the time will come when I cheer for a NFL team again. I'd love to be able to say I'm a tried-and-true 49ers fan- for the above reasons (Steve Young and their current playing style) and I like the fact that their 80's teams rewrote how the NFL runs offenses today. I like innovative teams and I like classic teams. The 49ers meet most important criteria for me. Topping it all off is the fact that they've got more former Buckeyes on their roster than any other team. That's a plus to me. Despite this, I'm pretty sure I'll have to wait until they suck to start cheering for them "officially," since doing so now will earn you the "fair weather fan" label. So I'll just sit back and be Mr. Switzerland for a few years.

I'm pretty much right there with you. NFL = joke, and as Seinfeld put it, you're basically just rooting for laundry, and fantasy football. Rotating door rosters and coaches, the stupidest fans on the planet who will throw anyone and everyone under the bus if they don't win a Super Bowl, and on and on.rkwittem wrote:I wish I could say that I had a favorite NFL team. At this point I really just root for ex-Griz players, I barely even care if the 49ers win another Super Bowl or not. And if they did I would trade it for 1 more Griz win (opponent doesn't even matter)
