Rockets have another draft bust in their hands?

Post by bonarae »

Royce White, still battling anxiety disorder, is ready to quit the NBA without playing a single minute.

All the Ivy League needs to become relevant again is to diversify its OOC schedule.

He was a headcase at Minnesota, with these mental issues, ended up at Iowa State under Fred Hoiberg, who was able to handle him. Best chance would have been for him to stay in school another year, if he had another year, or hire Freddie as an assistant to McHale.

In terms of talent NBA scouts compared him with Charles Barkley only bigger.

He was a headcase at iowa state too. He had to have his grandpa drive him to games because he can't fly...i don't know how he expected to play professionally anywhere with not being able to fly

Watching him melt down on twitter in real time the other night was epic though

The guy is a great physical specimen and an awful mental specimen. He was one of the 5 most impressive guys in this draft that I saw play in college. He needs to grow up and take some real responsibility. Making Gramps drive you across the country for games and blaming your employer for suggesting their own psychologist.
Maybe Royce White's therapist wasn't the best guy for the job. He needs to hear a new voice, IMO.

I agree with part of what he is saying...anxiety issues are very real - I have suffered from them as well and they can be debilitating. HOWEVER, he is acting like a giant baby right now. If he can't get from game to game and practice to practice every single day it is an issue.

He needs a new therapist to help him cope, along with some medications.
