Final Four basically set now except for the pairings. Two German clubs and two Spanish clubs left - pretty good Final Four as all 4 are stacked:
Borussia Dortmund
Bayern Munich
Barcelona
Real Madrid
Hope we don't end up with the same nationalities playing each other. I never really enjoy Real/Barca games, they tend to be overhyped. And if Messi still isn't healthy enough they won't beat any of the other three - a half speed Messi was good enough to beat PSG, but that won't cut it going forward. Still think Bayern and Real are the best right now, be a shame to see them play in the semis.

Re: UEFA Champions League
Holy batshit, did Bayern look good today. You might be able to say that was the single best performance by a Champions League club in a game in over a decade... maybe ever. They probably just went from around 2-1 to 2-5 in most European books to win the whole thing.
Of course, they need to prove that they can get to the big stage and not choke to win it all. But taking Goetze from my team, BVB, and decimating Barcelona in the same day makes this one stellar day for die Stern des Sueden.

Amazing performance today, but you're right about choking in big games. The thought of losing two finals in a row, this time to The Special One/Ronaldo or Dortmund is almost too much bear.
Oh, and sorry about the Goetze thing...kinda.

Re: UEFA Champions League
I wouldn't classify last year as a choke. Sure, they were better than Chelsea, but that's the nature of the game. Chelsea battened down the hatches, played uber-defensive football, and cashed in on what was one of their only chances in the entire game. Clearly Chelsea showed they could play defense last year even before the Bayern game. Hard to see that as a choke just because they lost.Grizalltheway wrote:LDopaPDX wrote:Holy batshit, did Bayern look good today. I guess it's mostly the fact that they were at home, heavy favorites, and largely dominated the game without converting all but one of the chances they created. That, and favorite son Schweinsteiger bouncing his penalty off the post.GannonFan wrote:I wouldn't classify last year as a choke. Bayern dismantle the supposed greatest team of all time, Barcelona, 7-0 on aggregate to reach the final.
