Pretty stupid of the Nats to sit a healthy Zimmerman at the end of last season. They had a chance to win last year.

The Nats are an example of the wussification of baseball. Sit a perfectly healthy pitcher because you are scared that he might get hurt. Zimmerman pitched better last year than he did this year, so the rest clearly didn't help. The team had a chance to win last year, they screwed it up.

The Nats should go to a seven man rotation, no way the delicate little flowers that they call pitchers should have to pitch more than once a week.

Anyone ever won a Cy Young only pitching in 14 games? So far through 12 games pitched (3 starts, 9 in relief), Tanner Roark's line...

7-0
41.2 IP
26 hits
5 Earned runs
32 Strikeouts
9 Walks
1.08 ERA

He should get two more starts. Nothing not to like about this guy... he has a giant mullet and he pitches FAST. The Nats/Braves game last night was over 40+ minutes before the O's/Red Sox game. Both started at 7pm.

Game Time 2:25 vs 3:08

Great stats for the kid, he'll be a good addition for the 2014 team. That being said if someone gives him a vote for the Cy Young they should have their voting privileges revoked.

I agree, was just a little hyperbole to make my point. I wonder what the minimum would be though.

Right now the ESPN Cy Young predictor has Craig Kimbrel #1 in the NL. Probably won't win it (can't recall the last closer to win it), but he will at least be in the discussion. He's pitched in 62 games, he only has 61 innings pitched. Roark could easily get to 52 with two more starts. :|

It would be interesting to see what they'd do with him IF the Nats were to somehow grab that last WC spot. They are 4.5 back today (4 in loss column) and the Reds/Pirates still play each other 6 times. Obviously the Nats still have to probably win out, maybe lose 1-2 and hope either the Reds or Pirates take 5 of 6 from the other.
