Sad story turns around....

Post by SuperHornet »

A rescue mission in Fairfield, CA (between Sac and SF along the I-80 corridor) had a goal of raising 1K turkeys to feed homeless people. Until, that is, someone busted into their stash and swiped all 300 that they had.

But that's not the end of the story. Kansas City Chiefs LBer James Michael Johnson heard about it and is helping to replace the purloined gobblers.

How cool is THAT?!?

First off...props to him! Hope they make their goal and then some.

Second...a guy from KC has to step up when the rest of the athletes in the local area didn't do shit? meh. Typical Californians

How the fuck do you steal 300 turkeys? Assuming they are average size that is running off with about 4500 pounds of frozen turkey. . .

grizza: Dude grew up in Solano County, so there was a connection there.

V: The anchor was pretty much wondering the same thing. The thieves had to have had delivery trucks. Certainly, the shelter will install security devices and procedures now (and likely have to temporarily reduce services to pay for it). But, as raised in the story, the question remains what will become of that quantity of turkey. I wasn't aware of a black market for turkey (as there might be for pirated movies or car parts. It might well become hard to move, bringing into question their sanity in choosing what to steal.

Another one for the dumb criminals file, eh?

Inside job/professionals did this. My sister in law has chickens and turkeys and those things can be tough to catch sometimes. Unless, they were sleeping and the thieves just plucked them from whatever tree that may have been in. :twocents:

Logically, a group of teenagers or drunk frat brothers aren't going to steal 300 turkeys and not get caught or noticed. Planning went into this. Just like the theft of Pappy van Winkle a month ago. When you're dealing with large quantities, you have to assume it's either inside and/or a professional job.

I bet it was those dirtbags from the Mission Solano Bridge to Life Center on 310 Beck Avenue. We all know those people have had a beef with the Solano Mission ever since they won the pork and beans cook off last year.

It's all in how you pile them up in your arms. Also run fast as shit too.

The sentence posted by Helen Hunt just mentions for homeless. Regardless, in my expert opinion, this is a professional job.
