2014 F1 season

Post by grizzaholic »

Really neat video about the new car and some new rules.

V6's this year with a 15,000 RPM limit along with a new body and power recovery system are the big changes.

In my eyes, it's the greatest racing series.

I missed the Australian GP due to a funeral, but the Mercedes-powered cars are expected to do extremely well this year since technologically, they're ahead of the game with their hybrid engines (especially in terms of reliability). Red Bull-Renault still has the best chassis, but they need to tweak their powertrain if they expect to win another Constructors' Cup and Vettel another Championship.

edit: That said, they new engine doesn't sound as good. The turbo swoosh is cool, but the V6 definitely isn't as sexy as the V8. But I guess it was the same when they went from V12 to V10 and then V10 to V8.

I watched about 10 minutes of it and turned it off disappointed. The new racing could be the best ever...but the engine ruins it for me.

I've only heard it before from broadcast clips and the on-board cameras, but it sounds like complete shit from the stands. It's sad when F1 sounds worse than NASCAR. :ohno:

No. NASCAR sounds good..I do like the past F1 sound better though. But...I just...F1 better do something soon because I will be missing a lot of racing this year.

I didn't mean that NASCAR sounds bad, but F1 should simply sound better due to the higher RPMs.

Q: What's the difference between Jacques Villeneuve and a bus driver?
A: One is a highly skilled professional driver, and the other is in Formula 1

A snail was employed to race for Williams but because he was a snail he wasn't allowed a number on his car so instead used the letter 'S' At his first Grand Prix the snail excelled, and at the moment he took first place the commentator screamed out "And look at that Ess-Car Go!"

Q: Why did TWA 800 explode and crash shortly after takeoff?
A: It was fitted with Ferrari engines.

I don't even know if any of these are funny!

Bahrain GP just started on NBC-S if anyone cares. Let's see if the Mercedes team can start of the season with three victories in a row. The W05 car has been spectacular this year, and apparently it's thanks to a simple but clever engineering solution: http://www1.skysports.com/f1/news/12472/9243875" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Mercedes finishes 1-2, with Hamilton beating out Rosberg.

Remarkably, Force India (one of my favorite teams) finished 3rd. It's always fun to witness the rare podium result for a smaller team. I think the announcers said it's their second Top 3 finish in team history.

For all who care, Mercedes dominated the Chinese GP today with a second consecutive 1-2 finish. Fernando Alonso (Ferrari) came in 3rd.

Top 10 to date:
1. Rosberg (Mercedes) - 79 pts.
2. Hamilton (Mercedes) - 75 pts.
3. Alonso (Ferrari) - 41 pts.
4. Hulkenberg (Force India) - 36 pts.
5. Vettel (Red Bull) - 33 pts.
6. Ricciardo (Red Bull) - 24 pts.
7. Bottas (Williams) - 24 pts.
8. Button (McLaren) - 23 pts.
9. Magnussen (McLaren) -20 pts.
10. Perez (Force India) - 18 pts.

Next up is the Spanish Grand Prix in two weeks.

It actually started at 1am MST, if anyone really cares. I watched about half of it and got pissed. I was so excited this year, and all that is gone now...it is more displeasure and hoping for more changes next year.

One of the world's great races, the Monaco Grand Prix, is tomorrow morning.

Rosberg and Hamilton will start 1 and 2, respectively.
