Klinsmann has already gone on record saying that he'll be bringing in anyone and everyone from the 1991s to the 1999s, leaving no rock unturned. We could have up to 5 major tournaments before the next WC. We've got to find more fish in the sea in a hurry. I like his thinking

Should be fun to watch

NASCAR (and other auto racing) to football/basketball/baseball/soccer in terms of being a team sport is Apples to Oranges.

And writing "bout" instead of "about" and "po" instead of "poor" was obviously intentional slang.

I'd rather be the one who unintentionally misspells the occasional word (especially in today's age of trying to type on smart phones) than the one who fails at reading comprehension. ;)

Lokuku, #9, came on at the beginning of extra time. So technically at 91'.
So he's one of their best player's, right? Sure looked like it. Wasn't the Belgium coach taking a huge risk by not putting him in earlier? How stupid would that had looked for Belgium if we had scored with a minute or 2 left in the second half when that shot right in front of the open goal was blown, we win, and the guy was never put in the game? Seems to me if Belgium had put him in earlier there was a good chance they would have scored earlier and could have avoided the whole OT thing to begin with. Seems like an unnecessary risk they took.

They were having trouble scoring in their first few matches until they subbed on Origi so they went with Origi over Lukaku to start against the US.

But, the same thing happened and the scoring started after subbing their striker.

Also, you're starting to think too much about a sport you hate. And starting to sound like an effeminate - possibly communist - European sports fan.

Never said I hated it. But don't like it either for several reasons. The not stopping the clock during the numerous 1/2 minute to several minute stoppages for various reasons, the flopping, could use a little more scoring. The only televised soccer games I have watched in my entire life were in 1990, 1994, 1998, 2002, 2006, 2010, and 2014, but only because the US was in it.

I have already done something I had never done before. That is watch more than 1-2 games that the US wasn't playing in. Probably have watched 1/2 doz in addition to the US's 4 games. Remains to be seen if I'll do something I have never done before, and that is watch a game after the US has been knocked.Only qtr final game I have ever watched was the 1 the US was in. Never watched a semi final or the final. Regardless, after the next week or 2, the next soccer game I watch will be 2018...until then I'll leave all the soccer watching to the effeminate commie pinkos.. :coffee:

YouGov reports that 35 percent of liberals, 34 percent of moderates and just 27 percent of self-described conservatives are watching the World Cup.

As for soccer viewing when the World Cup is not being played, 24 percent of liberals, 21 percent of moderates and a tiny 14 percent of conservatives watch the sport.

Overall, 28 percent of the nation considers the sport the “most boring to watch.”

Strip politics out of the equation, and just 30 percent of the nation is paying attention to the World Cup, with 70 percent watching it "not closely" or "not at at all."

A soccer ball tends to get more wear and tear than a basketball and needs replaced more frequently so I would argue that basketball if a better "po folk" team sport.

And on the subject of diversity, there is no perfectly diverse sport. People of different backgrounds tend to focus on different sports. My 15 y/o has a soccer teammate who is of Puerto Rican decent. His father was initially sad because he didn't want to play baseball as a kid but now he's come to love watching his son play soccer. My 13 y/o played on a soccer team in the Windy City League in Chicago a few summers ago. He was the only blond kid on a team full of kids of Mexican decent.

Germany advanced to the semis and a date with the Colombia/Brazil winner with a 1-0 win over France. Nice header off the bottom of the crossbar won it.
