Broncos all-everything kicker Matt Prater has been suspended for the first four games for violating the league's substance abuse policy. He popped for alc after drinking AT HOME while on vacation.
While I'm not a fan of alcohol, I'm sort of ambivalent about this suspension. Alc is legal, the usage had NOTHING to do with game performance, and being at home, there was no issue of getting behind the wheel. The NFL is increasingly becoming tyrannical under Gooddell.

Is that legal? Someone in an "average job" isn't generally subject to that....

Get a DUI as an employee of Anheuser-Busch, and you lose your job. Not just a suspension.
Employers decline the hiring of people with a DUI conviction all the time.
Working for the NFL is not a right.
My employees understand that if they get a DUI then they are immediately fired. I will not have then driving my vans, nor will my insurance company allow them under my policy without jacking up the rates
For your companies, is that a DWI CHARGE or CONVICTION? I'm sure that some would go half-cocked and fire someone for a charge, leaving themselves wide open for a wrongful termination suit if the DWI trial results in an acquittal. "Looking like you're doing something" often means jumping the gun on things and paying for it later....

NFL is not an "average job" and employers can make all kinds of rules as long as they apply them consistently.
I think Flaggy beat you to it....

What planet are you living on?Playing in the NFL is a privaledge. Normal Joes, go to prison and lose their jobs all the time. If you've got two DUIs and in the substance abuse program already and still can't stop, you got bigger problems than 1/4 of your paycheck.
"Elaine, you're from Baltimore, right?"
"Yes, well, Towson actually."
