US Open

Post by ∞∞∞ »

Watching Cici Bellis play right now, and although she lost the first set, she's rallied in the second. For a 15 year-old gal, her forehand is ridiculously powerful. She's consistent too and certainly has the intelligence required in tennis. The rest of her game is definitely a work in progress, but that forehand will take her far as she ages (if she stays in the game).

Bellis dominates the second set, 6-0.

edit: Diyas (#43) has regained complete control, 4-1, in the final set.

edit: Diyas wins 6-3, 0-6, 6-2

Bellis learns the hard way that top players simply don't roll over. Regardless, her last two games have been impressive for someone her age. She'll make some noise heading into the future.

Bellis is the best thing to happen to women's tennis since Kournikova & Hingis.

US Open tennis is one sports event that if you get a chance, go. AA Stadium is very crowd friendly no matter the seats. Went to a couple sessions back in 2004. Got to sit and watch Sharapova from behind for one match.
