Last week, Byrdstown (TN)-Pickett County head softball coach Brittney Garner (an alumna of the school) added the title of head football coach. The previous coach was fired after opening 1-2. Unfortunately, Garner lost her first game.

While technically she is the head coach, it looks like she really isn't doing much coaching. From your article:
Garner said it's quite different than coaching softball, but is thankful for all the help and support from her football staff. One of those is O.B. Caudle, who returned to the program after he resigned in February as the previous head coach for three seasons. Caudle told the Tennessean that Garner is more of an administrator and the assistants actually coach the team.
Um...most head coaches work under that concept nowadays, tribe. That's why they hire coordinators and position coaches. Long gone are the days when three guys could coach an entire football team....

Most head coaches do handle some football stuff and not just the administrative but it sounds like she is not doing any of the football stuff. Here is a quote from an article that is linked within your article:
She's doing OK, I guess," Caudle said. "She's more of an administrator, more than anything. The rest of us pretty much handle the football stuff and she pretty well handles all of the administration stuff."
