You specifically said 3 years ago. Do you remember the record of the phils 3 years ago? Franchise best 102-60. So only a complete moron would have traded away everyone after that season. Now, if you said 2 years ago or last year, then okay, I would partially agree (depends who you wanted to get rid of).

RAJ has done pretty well on trades. It's his FA signings and extensions that have screwed him over as it makes it more difficult to trade those players. But I will say one thing, the Tigers have had 2 seasons and have not traded for Paps. RP screwed them last year and I look forward to seeing it again this year. I can live with his salary if he keeps producing like he did this year. I find it hilarious that MLB execs keep thinking he can't sustain his success and he keeps chugging along. :thumb:

This is the only statement you made that I have a problem with. The guy is paid big bucks to hit and hit with power. His OPS is below .700 - that has to be considered sub par.

The contract is a sunk cost, so I really don't care how much he can do anything anymore because it's not going to get better. You are right though, he's not having a good offensive year. I just looked at HRs and saw he was tied for 12th in the NL, so that was above average considering what he's done over the past couple years. But that alone is not good enough to offset the rest of his pathetic game (including defense). 2016 is 2 years away, and his contract will be over and we can move on and get ready to sign Trout to a $400M contract! :thumb:

I agree. Howard isn't hitting for average or power. His contract makes him virtually untradeable and the team continues to play him even though he might not be the best option at 1B right now.
They want him to put up more stats so he looks more appealing to an AL team. Considering the AL team would only have to pay something like $5M per year for him at DH for 2 years, I think some teams will be interested in the offseason.

Papschmear really grabs his crotch with flair! First time I ever cheered for Joe West, let me tell you.

And that awesome .220-hitting "slugger" Ryan Howard is back for one more year. Or is it two? SMFH.

So what are we 5, 10, 15 years away from a decent team again? When will Amaro be canned?
