No, it's not in a game, though that only makes me wonder WHY nobody does this. It's also not a record. But it's STILL incredible.
The Colts' punter Pat McAfee absolutely DRILLED a 55-yard drop kick field goal at a kicking camp in 2012. Why is he not doing this in games?!?

Incredible Field Goal

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

Re: Incredible Field Goal
Just read that the drop kick field goal can only happen in 2 instances.
First is where you faircatch a punt. So for a 55 yarder, you'd have to catch the ball at the other team's 45. In most cases, when you catch the ball at the 45 (which is extremely rare) you want to go for a TD or at least give yourself that opportunity. Remember if you miss, the other team gets the ball from that spot.
2nd is any other instance for a field goal. My guess is that you can kick the ball further higher when running up to it as opposed to taking 2 steps up and then drop kicking it when people are running at you so the kick from the ground is the better option. Plus the ball can take a funny bounce.

I believe in the Arena League, drop kicks are worth more points than regular kicks (dropkicked XPs are worth 2, dropkicked FGs are worth 4).
Although it is rarely attempted. According to the record book on the arena league website, only two players every successfully made drop-kick FGs. UNI alum Brian Mitchell made 7 such kicks in his career, and Missouri alum Tom Whelihan made 1.

tribe: About twenty years or so ago, the NFL passed a stupid rule that prohibited something Doug Flutie wanted DESPERATELY to pull while he was with the Bears: have a receiver catch a pass, turn, and drop kick a field goal. Of course, Ditka wouldn't let him try a REGULAR drop kick from scrimmage, either.
