The Climax (MN)-Fisher HS girls hoops team hadn't won a game since 2011. FOUR straight years. They even lost a game 90-3. The other day, they actually led 22-21 at the half when all of the upperclasspersons started fouling out in the second half. The Lady Knights were left on the wrong end of a two-woman power play for the last three minutes, and the three remaining players were two sophs and a freshperson. No chance to win, right? Well, the Knights didn't make another basket the rest of the game, but the remaining players played stellar 5-on-3 defense (who the heck practices THAT this side of hockey?!?) and made enough free throws to seal the deal. New streak!
SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.
