Jeter let one get away - apparently Minka and Derek has parted ways, "amicably" apparently.

RJ forever tainted by being unable to pitch in the only place it counts.
That would be funny if it didn't also apply to at least two guys in the Yankees current starting rotation.

Oh, wait, that makes it even funnier.

And you know what's even funnier? That guy you're talking about has pitched a total of one game for the Yankees that actually mattered and he WON that game -- Game 2 of the 2009 World Series.

And the Yankees never looked back after that.

They don't need to look back, you do that for them. A common losers response, live in the past. You sound just like a second grader, only without the wit. Why don't you tell us about all the World Series titles the Yankees have, many of which you never saw.

Agree, since Jeter got his 3000th hit, he has more hits than anyone else in baseball.

So? Go ahead and place the bet if you can find a taker. I think it's 27-2, but that has nothing to do with the current season, which is what I'm worried about. I don't live in the past.

C'mon Joe. You can do better than that. Your a good poster, except when the Yankees are involved you become the Kansas City Royals of cs.com. :ohno:

From now on, whenever I hear Springsteens' "Glory Days" I will think of you.

I guess that's apropos, given that Springsteen is still going strong, and so are the Yankees. You do realize that it is the function of all Yankee fans on a message board to remind everyone that we have 27 rings -- and you don't! (The use of the first person is also required, because it's like we're members of the team, you know).

Unlike Burnett. Maybe Springsteen can pitch, but if he can, I'm sure he'd rather be in Phila.

I don't know why you Phils fans are so keen on bringing up Burnett. He's a mop-up long reliever if he even makes the post-season roster. Keep this in mind for the post-season. The Yankee No. 1 starter has more wins and frankly is a better pitcher than the Phils No. 1, and the Yankee No. 2 starter has as many wins as the Phils No. 2 (and three fewer losses). Garcia and Colon make fine No. 3 and 4, and Hughes has already proven he can both start and do short relief effectively. The Yankees have the pitching to win the World Series.

I'd be more concerned that the Phils have only two everyday players who could start for the Yankees. (Maybe 3, since Howard could DH).

You might be right regarding the everyday players, but not about the #1 pitchers. I hope both teams make it to the series, it will be fun, but they gotta get there first.

Now you're just being delusional. I'd take Halladay AND Lee before I'd take CC. And that's from somebody with no dog in this fight. :coffee:

Now you're just being delusional. I'd take Halladay AND Lee before I'd take CC. And that's from somebody with no dog in this fight. :coffee:
Halladay pitched for years in the AL East and he was NEVER as good as Sabathia is now performing. It's just a fact that in the AL, especially in the AL East, you face deeper and better lineups, and your ERA will be somewhat higher. Halladay has never looked so good since he's been in the NL.

And if you'd take Lee over Sabathia, you need to think that over. Sabathia's regular season numbers are much better than Lee's almost every year. And in the post-season, Sabathia delivers over and over on three day's rest while Lee simply will not take the ball without four-day's rest. The Yankees won the 2009 World Series because Sabathia took the ball every third day.

If you took a poll of major league GMs, and asked them to draft a pitching staff for a post-season series, I'd bet the vast majority would choose Sabathia No. 1, because he will give you quality starts on short rest.
Sabathia is better than any starter on the Phils. Period.
