Looking towards the future, the phillies selected SP Aaron Nola with the 7th overall pick. Here's a video of him:

If true, this is rough.

http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mlb-big-l ... 43392.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Less than two months after they picked George Springer from the University of Connecticut, the Astros sent Pence and cash to the Phillies on July 29, 2011, for Cosart, Singleton, Zeid and a player to be named, which ended up being Santana. In spring training, a Phillies official admitted that Santana wasn’t actually supposed to be on the list that was given to the Astros to pick from to satisfy the final piece on Aug. 15, 2011.
Amaro denies it was a mistake. Not sure how big of a prospect he was but if true, that's rough.

This time it's the best team in the National League, the Brewers. Unbelievable :roll:

You wonder at times why they are as bad as they are when they clearly could be pretty decent. Something is certainly wrong attitude-wise/approach-wise with this team. They just don't seem to care enough to play well more often than they do. Sometimes that's even harder to fix than just talent is.

Need the Phils to lie down for the next three days. Nats need to take control of the East. Not sure how Atlanta keeps winning with all they've lost to injury this year.

Too bad the Phillies are irrelevant right now.

Last night was one of the better and most unlikely comeback wins they had in recent memory. They trailed 7-2 after 7 innings and 7-4 in the 9th. They scored the tying run with 2 outs and 2 strikes when Ben Revere hit a 401 foot HR. Only the second HR Revere has ever hit, and first ever on the road, after over 900 AB's. The Phils went on to win 9-8 in 11 innings.

The Nationals have a 7 game lead over the Braves and are most likely going to win the division, but their closer, Soriano, has an ERA over 6 since the All-Star break.

People are going to say this was a terrible season for the phils b/c they were too old to compete. And of course the opposite happened. Howard is having a decent offensive year. Utley has been above average overall, Rollins is having his best season since 2008, hell even ben revere is having his best season as a major leaguer, Not to mention Hamels. Paps, and Byrd who are having fantastic seasons. This season is down the drain thanks to the likes of Asche, Brown, and the pitchers behind Hamels. Look for most of the team to be dealt over the winter but phils fans should always appreciate the core still here as they may be the best core we will see come through philly for a while. :thumb: :clap:

Nobody disagrees.

The problem is that this should have occurred three years ago.

This is the only statement you made that I have a problem with. The guy is paid big bucks to hit and hit with power. His OPS is below .700 - that has to be considered sub par.

I agree. Howard isn't hitting for average or power. His contract makes him virtually untradeable and the team continues to play him even though he might not be the best option at 1B right now.
