Re: 2017-18 NBA Season
Sixers showed off last night in Cleveland, pulling away late in a convincing win against the Cavs. With all the bromance between Lebron and Simmons and Embiid it puts a lot of stock into the talk of whether Lebron may want to move a little further east and play ball in Philly next year. Sixers sit at 6th in the East right now but amazingly just 2.5 games out of the #3 seed in what is a very tight #3 through #8 grouping in the East. Schedule remains one of the easiest in the NBA the rest of the way so they could make noise and get home court in the first round. Sixers should end up in the 45 to 48 win total - not too shabby.

Good win, that was the game on ESPN radio last night when I was going to bed. Wife had a late work call, so I fell to sleep listening to this game.GannonFan wrote:Sixers showed off last night in Cleveland, pulling away late in a convincing win against the Cavs. With all the bromance between Lebron and Simmons and Embiid it puts a lot of stock into the talk of whether Lebron may want to move a little further east and play ball in Philly next year. James is just diddling with us. He’ll go to the Lakers to set up his movie career.GannonFan wrote:Sixers showed off last night in Cleveland, pulling away late in a convincing win against the Cavs. With all the bromance between Lebron and Simmons and Embiid it puts a lot of stock into the talk of whether Lebron may want to move a little further east and play ball in Philly next year. LeBron rumors had him recently visiting Westtown School. Hey, if it increases my property value then I'm all for it. Makes more sense than Malvern Prep rumors as Westtown plays a national schedule - produced Mo Bamba (Texas) last year & Cam Reddish (Duke) this year....

Without Jimmie Buckets, the Wolves still hanging on to the 6th spot in the West with wins over Washington and Golden State.
Sounds like Wiggins is getting disgruntled and wants to be traded.
Derek James: Whoa. @DWolfsonKSTP just said on @1500ESPN that Wiggins has “whispered to teammates” that he’s unhappy being a third option behind Butler and Towns.

Sixers entering the stretch now where they'll pile up wins. I'm going on record, I see them winning 9 of their next 11 starting with the Knicks tonight (better be a win or I'm in trouble!). Still looking in the neighborhood of 46-48 wins. Could end up anywhere from the 3rd to 6th seed (I don't see them being the 7th or 8th) in the East.

Sixers get that win against the Knicks, Simmons goes for his second triple double in a row and has now passed Magic Johnson for second all time for triple doubles in a rookie season (he has 8 triple doubles this season) - he'll stay at #2 since Oscar Robertson's first place mark is way out of reach.

Re: 2017-18 NBA Season
Simmons records his 3rd triple double in 4 games as the Sixers take care of the Hornets with a very impressive 4th quarter. Team is rounding into shape nicely - Saric has been fantastic as the year as moved on (almost to 40% from 3pt range now), Covington has re-emerged as an actual NBA player, Simmons is the easy rookie of the year and a stud, Embiid is fantastic, Reddick just scores all the time, and the additions of Ilysasova and Belinelli have really meshed well with what this team does at both ends of the floor. 13 games left, sitting at 39-30 right now, I see 8 more wins, minimum, and they end up at 47-35, which could be enough for the #3 seed. I think if they win 48 games they will get the #3 seed.

Re: 2017-18 NBA Season
The Sixers might be favored to win 12 of their last 13 games. I don't think they will go 12-1, but their schedule is really favorable. The #3 seed is a real possibility.GannonFan wrote:Simmons records his 3rd triple double in 4 games as the Sixers take care of the Hornets with a very impressive 4th quarter. Big win for the Wolves last night. Now see how they do with the easy part of the schedule without Jimmie Buckets. 10 games, 5 home with the toughest teams being Philly, Utah and Denver twice.

Yeah, he's doing all of this and can't even shoot from further out than 8 ft right now. If he ever develops a jump shot and it might be unfair. The kid can play. Embiid is pretty good too.Gil Dobie wrote:New face of the NBA, Ben Simmons.

KAT told my buddy that before the Philly game the other night. If that's how the players feel, he just might be the real-deal.GannonFan wrote:Yeah, he's doing all of this and can't even shoot from further out than 8 ft right now. Re: 2017-18 NBA Season
Sixers continue to roll - down 8 at the half to a Nuggets team fighting for the playoffs and the Sixers come out and score 72 points in the second half to win comfortably. Also included the reintroduction of overall #1 pick Markelle Fultz - scored 10 points, with 8 assists and 4 rebounds in 14 minutes of work. Sixers just look really good right now - peaking at the right time. The #3 seed could come down to the game against the Cavs, in Philly, on April 6th. Gotta make sure not to stumble against all these bottom dweller teams in the meantime. In other news, Lakers lose a key game to the Pistons, now 2 games clear of anybody for the 10th pick next year.

Ruh-roh. Embiid hurt again. Thanks for nothing, Markelle Fultz. Biggest first-round draft bust since Craig Raymond.

Wolves continue to hang in playoff contention with a win over Atlanta last night, and 56 points from KAT. KAT sets a Timberwolves record for points in a game.

Yeah, that wasn't helpful. But supposedly it's just a bruise, so we'll see. As for being a bust, that's still to be seen. Hasn't been a great first year, obviously, but can't judge it just on one year. He has time to prove it one way or the other.Ivytalk wrote:Ruh-roh. Embiid hurt again. Re: 2017-18 NBA Season
Sixers host the Cavs tonight in what will feel like a playoff game. Embiid will still be out but there's an outside chance Dario could be back tonight for the Sixers. Sixers on a 12 game win streak, Cavs on a 5 game win streak after somehow pulling out that game last night against the Wizards. This could be the game for the #3 seed - both Cavs and Sixers are tied in the loss column with the Cavs having played one more game. Both teams could finish the season with W's so this would be it. Cavs have a 2-1 edge so far in the season series but the Sixers won big in Cleveland the last time they played. Considering that the Celtics, locked in at the #2 seed, have now lost Kyrie for the year, getting to be the #3 seed carries a little more importance now. Add the drama that Lebron could be considering coming a little further east and joining The Process next year and this game should be fun.

Sixers hold off Cavs 132-130. Triple-doubles for both Simmons and James. Playoff preview?

OKC, NO and SA all clinch playoff spots. Down to Wolves vs Nuggets Wednesday for the final spot.
