Trace rumors, Twins are looking at Bumgarner and Smith from the Giants for 2 top prospects. Both pitchers would be rentals.

Danger!
The SF Giants are pretty damned savvy
be extra cautious when dealing with a team that has won 3 world series in the past decade
they rarely get the bad end of a trade

Different era now - Giants haven't won a WS in 5 years and don't look to be on the precipice of winning another one anytime soon.Chizzang wrote:Gil Dobie wrote:Trace rumors, Twins are looking at Bumgarner and Smith from the Giants for 2 top prospects. Both pitchers would be rentals.

That's a strange franchise. They made the playoffs only 4 times in the last 15 years......and won 3 World Series titles. Below .500 in 7 of those seasons. they're 2 years away from being pretty damn good again - just watch
and they will absolutely molest the Twins who might be too hungry to win now

David Price got the win as Boston completes a sweep in Detroit. Five of the Tigers starting pitchers from 2014 (Verlander, Scherzer, Porcello, Sanchez and Price) have won for other teams at Comerica Park this season. Shit.

Good thing we're back to the All-Star game not meaning anything again...

RP Daniel Hudson traded to Nats. Knew he was going somewhere. Thought it would be Nats or Phils.

Not enough. Nats drop another to the Braves today after coming back to tie in the bottom of the 9th.CAA Flagship wrote:RP Daniel Hudson traded to Nats. Knew he was going somewhere. Thought it would be Nats or Phils.

That Reds-Pirates brawl last night provided more amusement than the whole Democratic debate.

Hudson comes in in the bottom of the 6th with runners on 1st and 3rd and one out. Gets out of it with a K and a 4-3 groundout. Nats tie it up at 5 in the top of the 7th...........then Wander Suero blows it. Nats lose 7-5.89Hen wrote:Not enough. Good shutout win over Giants last night, but Nats are slipping again. Phils and Nats tied for 1st WC, 6 behind Braves.CAA Flagship wrote:Hudson comes in in the bottom of the 6th with runners on 1st and 3rd and one out. Gets out of it with a K and a 4-3 groundout. And 5 teams within 4 games of the WC spot - STL (.5 back), Brewers (2 back), Mets (2.5 back), Diamondbacks and Giants (3.5 back).89Hen wrote:Good shutout win over Giants last night, but Nats are slipping again. Mets the hottest team of the group lately but against the easiest schedule so may change soon when they play for the remainder of August: 3 against Nats, 6 against Braves, 3 against Cubs, 2 against Phils, and 3 against Cleveland with only easy ones being 3 against KC and 2 more against Miami

The Mutts, unlike the Philthies, have good starting pitching. That’s been a big difference,CAA Flagship wrote:No, but that picture cracks me up.Ivytalk wrote: Do you like the Mucking Futz? Worst mascot in baseball.

Yanks @ White Sox will play an official game at the Field of Dreams in Iowa in 2020 on my birthday (Aug 13). That'll be interesting, especially if it rains. I was just there last year and it's all dirt roads. They're installing temporary seating for 8,000. I assume they'll be busing them in. There's not really a lot of parking there.

I think Ivy should take you there for your birthday

Re: 2019 Official Baseball Season Thread
Correction on my first post. They're building a whole new field for this about 150 yards beyond left field of the current field of dreams. Just saw the graphic on Around the Horn.

I dropped an Andy in the portajohn there while driving back to Chicago after the UNI/EWU game. It was a neutron bomb level event.93henfan wrote:Yanks @ White Sox will play an official game at the Field of Dreams in Iowa in 2020 on my birthday (Aug 13). Good god the orioles are sinking even lower than the low they were expected to hit...
Preseason: The orioles are going to be really bad
Yesterday: The orioles are somehow worse than we anticipated
